Why isn't this being reported more widely?

You have to sympathise with the Unions point of view, especially in the current climate

I always thought that foreign companies with UK contracts tended to employ local labour anyway'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0

It's time to bring all the ex pats home, shut the Channel Tunnel and the airports and pull up the shutters. British Recession for British ex-workers is our new battle cry. No more trade with Johnny foreigner. Buy British, sell British, and er. thats it.
I for one will only be watching British made films and television, only watching the local news, and listening to home grown music. Eating British food, and definitely not working for multi national companies anymore.
Under extreme circumstances I will agree to trade with the Welsh, and possibly the Scots. But that's it.
I do hope those Union leaders, and their colleagues will not be holidaying abroad this year and taking our hard earned British pounds out of the country.0 -

My dissertation was on the necessity of internationalisation for UK companies. The point was that, being part of the EU, there are no more national trade boundaries and EU companies are as free to do business here as we are anywhere in Europe. It's no suprise to me that this would happen, often British companies have been little prepared for the realities of the EU and what it means economically.
Conversly, we are now at an advantage to do business in Europe because of the very low prices we can offer due to the exchange rate. It's swings and roundabouts, and while an Italian company may have this contract, you can bet that British companies are reaping the benefits elsewhere in Europe.
Also, many of our engineering companies are the best in the world and have been awarded infrastructure contracts all over the world, never mind Europe. These profits are obviously repatriated, so we do feel the benefits of international trade.I'll have some cheese please, bob.0 -

Sounds like a good way to turn a recession into a depression.

I have drawn up a list of things we British can do.
1. Shut the door on Johnny Foreigner.
2. Grow our own coffee. Maybe.
3. er.
4. That's it.0
