0844 numbers are special numbers. They are non-geographical numbers and they usually have a low per minute rate associated with them, generally between 1p and 5p per minute if you are calling one of them from a BT line. The mobile networks charge different amounts for calling these numbers. Some mobile network tariffs include them within the bundled minutes, others do not, and the charges can vary widely.
Orange will charge between 10p and 30p per minute, depending on the digits following the 0844 prefix if you are a contract customer. If you are a PAYG customer you will be charged the standard call rate, that is to say the same price per minute as a call to a number starting 01 or 02.
The Weekend Extras you mentioned are stated as being valid to other Orange numbers or landlines. Landlines may well mean numbers starting 01 and 02 only. The £15 charge is for one weekend only, not forever.
You can call Pakistan from a landline for around 4p per minute.0 -
If you can get a contract why not get the o2 1000 offpeak landline and same net one - there are always cashback deals giving free line rental for 12 months on this tariff. I use this and 0844 numbers to make 1000 mins (about 17 hours) of calls per month to Antigua and Jamaica for freeI think....0

yes the £5 charge is for 1 weekend but i think that worth the fiver if u can call abroad0

£5 would buy you 125 minutes to Pakistan on your landline.......0

Are you sure that you can call 0844 numbers through this Orange Extra. It does say calls to UK Landlines, and a dial through 0844 number is not normally regarded as same.
If you got an O2 PAYG online sim and chose the 100 inclusive x-net minute option after topping up by £10. You would get 100 minutes to phone 0844 numbers anytime, and the £10 pound you get to keep could be used at weekends to make calls to 0844 numbers at 5p a time(200 minutes) plus you can claim a free 50 minute bolt on for 3 months.0 -
