Not sure if you mean me, but I'll tell you anywayYou are entitled to reasonable time off for your appointments. "Reasonable" is obviously open to interpretation but I would suggest you come to a mutually agreeable solution without taking the mick.
If the travel time and to'ing and fro'ing would interupt your day too much to make it a worthwhile day at work, personally what I would do (and if it's a suitable suggestion for your workplace) is suggest that you have the whole day off, but work the amount of time you don't require for travelling and appointments over the same week.
For example: Say you work 9am to 5pm with an hour for lunch, it takes you half an hour to get to the hospital from your workplace and your appointments are an hour each, at 1030 and 1500..
0900 Arrive at work (1hr of work)
1000 Leave for hospital
1030 Appointment
1130 Leave hospital
1200 Get back to work (1hr of work)
1300 Lunch break
1400 Back to work (30min of work)
1430 Leave for hospital
1500 Appointment
1600 Leave hospital
1630 Back to work (30min of work)
1700 Home time
You could have done three hours of work that day, although it wouldn't have been at your most productive with all the coming and going, so suggest you spread those three hours over the week and tag them on to your days or work through lunch, then they still get those hours out of you. It wouldn't go down as sick leave as you're not sick.
Does that make sense?0 -
Evening Ladies !!!
I've not been scared away, only just woke up from my late nap !!!:j
How is everyone tonight?
I cleared the spare room of all the cr*p that has been accumulated over the last 9 years and think I am half way there to getting a room that can be called a nursery :j:j:j
Just need to get a new carpet and paint, but the wardrobe etc.. are all still in good condition, so that will save me some money !!!The two best things I have done with my life

Well speaking from experience, it always makes me chuckle the amount of time and thought that goes into setting up the birth. Stay busy, stay on your feet and once it really hurts you won't give a toss what music is on.
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
P.S. I'm a very down to earth and practical person, out hanging the washing 3 hours after my DS.:cool:i was in the labour room about 4hrs in total last time and one of those was after the birth
I've been told that I should be prepared for a birth as quick as 2hrs  seeing as it will take hubby about 20 mins to get home and will need to shower before we go hosp plus my mum will take about 30-40mins to get her to watch Chris, then 20mins-ish to get to hosp I'll be lucky if I get my knickers off in time :rotfl:

Thanks elle_gee - sounds fare although they get an hour and half extra out of me each day anyway so they shouldnt have room to grumble. First appointment was at 10.30 and had to leave at 9.30 to get there so didnt seem any point in going in. That appointment finished at 11.30 and next appointment was at 12.30 just enough time for lunch. Did not leave hospital until 4.00 so would not of made it back in time anyway. Its just I can see them saying it has to be down as sick.
I have already had two days sick this month and a third sickness will affect my bonus. I will feel cheated if it does as I never loose time from work. With DS2 I never had 1 day off its just this time around I have had flu and then a nasty fall on the ice.0 -
Does anyone know a good place to buy a couple of cot mattresses and which do we get? Foam or spring, spring is best I guess as it's cot beds that we have
Was wondering if anywhere has quidco?
I have a foam one in our cotbed its still in good shape, I was planning on getting a sprung one once Chris was bigger but I haven't felt the need to as its not showing any signs of being squishedOoh - i've just come on looking for Caz news - she MUST be here by now!
Did someone try and message her on facebook a few days ago??It's a small business but they don't use another firm to do payroll and accounts - it's just one accountant.
As for email, these are older people living in the dark ages and I don't think they know what an email or email address is lol!
could you type the letter yourself and then just ask him to check it and sign it?0 -
Do you have appointment cards or letters, or did anyone from the hospital add the appointment times to your notes? If so, take those in to show your bosses. My midwife writes them down on the back page of my notes as your employer can ask for proof of appointments. They should use those as proof you were at appointments and not sick. If they told you of the times over the phone, jot them down in your handwriting where you usually record your app times - tell them to contact the hospital if they're *that* bothered (usually puts them off
).
I start work at 0830 and pass my house on the way from work to the hospital (30mins from work to hospital). For a 0910 appointment I stayed at home and didn't make the time up. For a 1000 appointment I went in for an hour - the top boss couldn't understand why I had "bothered" going in although the HR advisor he's married to soon put him straight that she didn't agree with him!The next one is at 0945 so I'll do 45 mins late one night to make up for it. Really don't know why I bother when I have a boss who majorly takes the mick - that said, she'd be down on me like a tonne of bricks if I tried it on!
