I pay £2.30 per week tax as I do not have the small earnings certificate. I wanted to make sure I was paying enough to cover any income, plus qualify for Maternity Allowance. Thanks so much for the info!!! I will look at putting all the CB in my name once this little one arrives.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

hi all,
i had things to say but now it's all gone, typical huh!!!
hugs and love all round for those that need
am - i am extremely close to my nan too so i know how you feel. you need to look after yourself too (i know i should take my own advice, but hey, it's different when you give it)
MFD - you are doing amazing when you only have days left at work, i am freaking out now and i have some weeks up my sleeve. i am dreading it  even to the point if nothing happens movement wise early, i am tempted to ask if i can come in for a few hours a day.
the whole child benefit/tax credits/child tax credits confussels (sorry i think i have pinched that word off someone) me. i just hate the thought of all of it to be honest. i cant seem to understand whether as of 1 APril 2009 the tax people will look at my salary for what it is (90% and then SMP) or go on 2007/2008 figures.0 -

.
I have been having the same debate with myself and I keep coming back to the same thing...
I will NEVER be ready to leave work - no matter how long I work for. I AM shattered and I DO need a rest before Bubba arrives. I also know that I CANNOT sort the house etc out so I can be calm when Bubba arrives UNLESS I finish work.
*and repeat this mantra*
If I leave work later I will do more beforehand...simple as. This baby deserves for me to slow down a little so I am ready for him and relaxed before he arrives.
My colleague gave me a page out of a calendar that says
'Find a job that you love and you could fill 7 days a week'
or something of that ilk - it's stuck on my monitor at work alongside
'Success is 10% inspiration, 90% last minute changes'please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

I know you are right and I feel exactly the same as you. I would love the rest beforehand, or even come into town, waddle around without trying to get things done in a lunch hour.
Even see a fraction more of hubby0 -
AF - They will use the 2007/2008 figures unless you tell them an estimate of what the true figures will be - does that make sense?
that does make sense Sami, thanks.
so i could work out what i expect the first six months to be (which would be part of my 90% and SMP) and then six months of 'normal wage' (on the basis that I would be returning to work after six months).
then, if anything changes and i return to work sooner or later, then i could phone to advise them of changes????0 -

exactlyIts a bit of a ball ache but I call them everytime anything changes like I started work and used a childminder, finished work and stopped using CM, claimed JSA and I need to call them soon as my JSA is ending.
You end up with lots of paper work (they send everything to you and then a copy to ur OH ) but at least that way you know they are far less likely to over/under pay you:cool:
and you need to listen very carefully to what MFD saidthere will always be more work to do but it doesn't mean its you that should do it
have they sorted someone for your mat cover yet?

becuase of my job (and all the immigration stuff i went through moving over here) i am quite anal about paperwork and informing authorities of changes etc, so i think i will be okay with that.
i will listen to MFD (promise).
my maternity cover is sorted (although it doesn't make me feel any better). the lady i work with now is going to go full time (so take my hours) and we have got someone in for three full days a week. she is starting tomorrow (and will do a day a week until i go off at the end of the month).0 -
