If they end up opening a dispute I will offer a refund less my fees from paypal and ebay.

Don't expect them to take the refund if you are keeping part of it back for your fees.
They will just let the dispute run its course and if they win PP will refund the full amount.

Thank you all for your replies. I haven't heard anything since earlier today, I suspect they are waiting the seven days to which they can then open the dispute or forget about it. It was a lot more expensive than what they paid (double). If they end up opening a dispute I will offer a refund less my fees from paypal and ebay.

You may not be aware, but when you refund through PayPal, you also get back the PayPal fees in relation to the amount you are refunding.

However if you offer a partial refund (ie by not refunding their original postage) you will still pay fees on that amount. Only a very understanding buyer would then agree to pay further fees, and as has already been pointed out, if PayPal rule against you, you will probably be expected to refund the whole lot (although the buyer will be responsible for sending it back at their own expense).

That said, if it goes to a PayPal dispute, you may end up winning.

    Good luck anyway!

Hopefully that will be the end of it then!

They could still open a dispute, but I would imagine they stand less chance of winning now that they have left you positive feedback.
  • i was looking at an item yesterday that had a correct picture and incorrect description. For clarity, it's important that both are correct so a picture of two rings may be misleading even if it's stated that only one is being sold.

As I understand it feedback counts for nothing during a dispute.

But equally it won't count against you.
