I get 0.5. No cable here. Can't even get a very good mobile signal so mobile broadband is a non-starter too.0

We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

I wonder if the UK does better than some "faster" countries in terms of % of population who can access a broadband connection as that's what BT concentrated on for a long time rather than speed.
If we're having a competition, I've just got 6190kbps from the test at http://www.mybroadbandspeed.co.uk/speedtest
My dad is stuck at 512kbps due to the distance from the exchange. Whenever he grumbles about it I tell him they'll improve it someday...looks like there may be a couple more years to wait though.0 -

That's not what she was saying to me last night.0 -
My mums not intrested either has to get grandchildren to work dvd and video player. Sister who lives near to her can't get broadband or mobiles signals and they don't live in the back of beyond . i live in a city and some of our industrial estates have yet to get reliable broad band so this sounds like soundbites to me. good news is my mum says we can all share her bit of broadband.vic0

I've been getting speeds similar to dialup for the past week... should be 1 Mb0 -
Aye, bet there's a lovely 'surfing' tax akin tot he TV licence tax to go with it too.
But i'm not cynical!
spot on... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8102756.stm
" Every Briton with a fixed-line phone will pay a "small levy" of 50p per month to pay for faster net access. The national fund created by the levy will be used to ensure most Britons get access to future net technologies.
The proposal is part of the Digital Britain report outlined by Culture Secretary Ben Bradshaw in Parliament. "
Still a long way from universal "decent" speeds, as they say plans are to "...extend coverage to the 15% of UK homes which do not receive broadband at 2Mbps. The government has pledged to complete this by 2012."
"the tax will mean that 90% of the UK will be able to benefit from broadband of up to 50Mbps by 2017."
And yet Gordon Brown says "Britain is going to lead the world. This is us taking the next step into the future to being the digital capital of the world."
How can we lead, when we are a decade behind countries that ALREADY have 100Mbps...??0
