Tesco credit card

Hi,

Before I start, appologies if this is in the wrong forum, please feel free to move it to it's correct location.

I currently own a virgin credit card which I use for all my purchases, with this card I am earning virgin miles. Up until recently I was very happy with the card, but the other day Virgin have upped the amount of miles needed to qualify for a free flight considerably, to a point where I'm trying to decide if it's worth changing to a different card.

My question is this, which is the better method for earning airmiles, is it

a) get an airmiles credit card and use this for all my purchases

or

b) get a tesco finest credit card, do my shopping at tesco, use all the extra points vouchers and use these to fund holidays instead?

or

c) any body elses better ideas :-)

I look forwards to the replies

Thanks

Jeff

It's all down to spending habbits really. You could look at a tesco plus account for shopping and earning points. There is also the egg money card. I go for a mixture of a tesco card and the egg money card which works for me.
    Nice to save.

i have a tesco clubcard plus for all shopping at tesco and also tesco petrol which you get 2 pts per £1 spent and a tesco credit card which gives you 1 pt per £2 for all spending elsewhere - its amazing how quickly the points add up - vouchers are sent out quarterly at rate of 1pt = 1p so 100pts = £1 - you can swap these for clubcard deals at 4x face value ie £2.50 voucher = £10 in deals and pay for holidays with quite a few companies ( see tesco website) or swap them for airmiles at rate £2.50 voucher = 60 airmiles and buy flights thro them
only slight drawback is clubcard plus has to be preloaded with spending money either by direct debit or at customer service but if you know roughly what you spend at tesco per month this is easy to do
    hope this helps
  • I dont know the deal of airmiles cc. However, if you want to use Tesco cc to build up the airmiles and you mainly shop with Tesco, I suggest you use Tesco Clubcard plus.
    Because:
Tesco cc get 3 point for every pound you use in Tesco.
Tesco Clubcard plus can get 4 point for every pound you use in Tesco,

Obviously, if you do have bigger spending elsewhere Tesco cc would be better.

Also, Tesco Finest cc does not have big difference to the normal. It only get extra 1 point when you shop on Tesco.com
    Spend smart, and save more.

I have a NatWest credit card for which we earn AirMiles. I also earn Airmiles with my Tesco reward card - so double whammy! (also have Tesco Talk)

You would earn more Air Miles if you had a Tesco credit card and used that instead of your Natwest card - stupid but true!

I was going to mention that as I thought it worked out better to convert tesco points to airmiles, eg £2.50 of tesco vouchers = 60 airmiles, if I'm right Natwest = 1 airmile per £20 so 60 airmiles = £1200.00 spent.

Hope that's right and not just made a fool of myself lol

    That seems right:
    Natwest 60 Airmiles - £1200 spend
    Tesco 60 Airmiles - £500 spend

Unless I am wrong, it would seem that Tesco Clubcard plus is no longer available, if you know otherwise would you please let me know :-)

I have tried so many times to get a Tesco credit card but they have refused me each time. I dont seem to have any problems with getting other credit cards/credit though.
