The handling fee is £1 plus the undercharged postage.

When this has happened to me as the seller I have refunded the full amount immediately though paypal from the original payment and sent a stamped addressed envelope to the buyer so they can return the 'charge card' or receipt to me. Once i get the confirmation of the charge I then reclaim that from the Royal Mail , that assumes it was weighed and stamped at the PO of course.

I was going to ask them to send me a copy via email first
but they paid via postal order and got the item late so i think they are trying it on
Out of i would say roughly 15000 items this is the first ever

Silly question but was it definitely a large letter under 100grammes? It didn't just creep over the weight or dimensions into packet did it?

Also it seems very unlikely that anyone would try it on for such a small amount.

Thickness of the packaging is also an issue isn't it? Was it too thick to be classed as a normal letter?

I'd have to agree with Soolin, it seems very unlikely that anyone would to go this much trouble over a tiny amount of money.

I don't think that the new postage system is complicated enough - surely the RM could charge differnt prices based on the colour of the packaging, what it smells like or maybe whether it makes a rattly noise or not ?
