me tooooooo :rotfl: they'll be much loved, tickled and scratched while they're with us, but i won't let the focus lean towards them being pets... it'll always be 'meat first, belly-rub second' :rotfl:0 -

Lovely piccy of the piglet - are you going to have their skins tattood with the various cuts of meat they're going to provide???0 -
It really feels like the good life sometimes
Others, (ie; when it's raining so heavy your wellies fill up with water, but the goats etc have to be fed...) well, it doesn't feel so 'good' then
LOL
We've just spent the last hour or so making up the raised beds we got from freecyle!
Took some pics to show what a difference they make (well, i think they do anyway)

beki is that a pond at the bottom of your garden, the raised beds look good aswell, i got my seed potatoes today and bought 10 autumn raspberry canes, also got some seed compost/soil so must start bringing some on. trying to organise garden still, its quite big but have to share with kids so trying not to overtake everything with fruit and veg although its very tempting, trying to be self sefficent this year, would love chickens but worried about the commitment. xOne day I will live in a cabin in the woods0

Yes.. the pond at the bottom of the garden wil eventually be for some ducks. Today we've finally finished the fence round it, that we've been meaning to do for 2 years...
We also emptied two big plastic barrels which were filled with compost as we grw chillies and carrots in them last year.. anyway, we emptied them into the smallest raised bed which filled it nicely
We also let the chooks free-range for a couple of hours, while we were out there with them
Also.. my greenhouse desperately needs a good clear out... a job for next weekend i think!

WOW Becki, i am so jealous! i live in a small terraced house with a small garden. I have been growing veg on what was my lawn, but it is very small. I sooo want chickens and my hubby would love a goat or two, but we will have to wait for that larger garden someday.
Thanks for this thread, i will read with excitment and interest.Leopardlady
