I used them with my Nationwide Visa Debit many a time no problems.
Some debit cards (not Nationwide) also charge for purchasing foreign currency. Refer to my previous post for more information.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

This information is available on the Travel Money Maximiser on this site. At the top of the results page, look for a link that looks like this:
CHECK FIRST Does your Credit/Debit card add a charge when you buy currency?
This will tell you that the Nationwide debit card does NOT charge a fee.
However, why bother using the Nationwide card to get currency in the UK? It's much cheaper to get currency from a foreign ATM using the Nationwide card.
I have seached following your instructions, and I still can't find that ''Does your Credit/Debit card add a charge when you buy currency?'' section - but thanks for the info
The reason I will be taking some currency with me is because i'm travelling in South America, and I need some USD. If I use the ATM's in Chilie, Brazil or Argentina I will get local currency, not USD.0 -
I know others do I was just refering to the question about nationwide cards as I have both a debit and a credit.0

After you do a search in the Travel Money Maximiser you should see the link above the list of results.
I know that in Bolivia you can choose between USD and local currency from ATMs. However, I can't remember whether this option is available in Chile and Brazil, and I haven't been to Argentina.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
