OK. Well I didn't see them. Anyway Martin is the expert, isn't he ?I seem to recall at the time, a lot of people condemning Martin for saying such a thing - myself included.
After about half an hour on the phone, I managed to get through to Customer Services. The guy I spoke to said that they handled complaints in Customer Services, there was no Sales Complaints Dept. Anyway I didn't get anywhere, so it's either bite the bullet or wait until December."0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0 -
Are you absolutely certain that you are not better off than any other BG tariff. I would check that very carefully before you jump ship!!
As for Martin being the expert! You should look upon him as a racing tipster - from the information he has to hand, he makes a guess.0 -
Well I will obviously give a lot more thought in the future. The problem with the fixed deal is if you opt out of it, even within BG, you have to pay the penalty of £70.Are you absolutely certain that you are not better off than any other BG tariff. Hi
Fixed rates are just that. Suppliers will fix prices at set levels and guarantee not to change them for a specific period. They will not go up or down.
If prices go the way they did last year you would have benefited. Unfortunately, if they come down you may miss out. It depends on the prices you fixed on.
In other words it's a gamble.
Capped prices are better. These have an upper level but will come down if prices fall. Unfortunately, they are becoming rarer and rarer within the industry.
Fixed/Capped schemes are increasingly including penalty clauses if you want to switch. You need to be aware of these.
I agree with other posters. If you were told your prices would come down following a price decrease you may have a case of mis-selling.“Official Company Representative

why do you want to come off? The standard tarriff is still more expensive even after the 10% reduction!!! Geez! You pensioners are never happy! I was speaking to a man on essentials tarrif yesterday, paying 42% under standard rates, free loft and wall insulation, free 50£ credit from BG and 400£ from government and was threatening to leave because a FURTHER 10% wasn't been passed on to him.Sunny in Southampton.0

Just you wait until YOU are a pensioner, living off a devalued state pension!! And then if you were eking this out with some interest from savings, which now earns practically nothing, you would not be very happy. It is not much fun. Your friend is one of the lucky ones. We get no benefits, paid for our own loft and wall insulation, and have never had a state handout apart from the winter heating allowance. What do you do, sing for your supper ?littletommytucker wrote: »why do you want to come off? The standard tarriff is still more expensive even after the 10% reduction!!! Geez!
