How many times "FIXED = Not fluctuating or varying; definite"
You took the decision to fix, if prices rose you would now be rubbing your hands, they did not!! and now you want your contract to end with no get out clause.
I have a fixed mortgage at 5%, IR are now far lower, I took the deal at the time looking at the longer term security.
You can't have the penny and the bun, its not the way it works, maybe next time you see these companies pushing their fixed products you will think twice.
Get over it!!0 -
I can assure you that Price Guarantee Dec 2009 rate will STILL BE CHEAPER even after the 10% decrease, as this is the tariff I am on, and I have done the sums. It is 0.8% more expensive on the electric at the moment, before any price decreases in that, so I would advise to check again if electricity decreases by a significant amount. It's only fixed until December, so it may not be worth paying any fees unless the prices change significantly and you can then guarantee that they will stay low.0

If the OP was told by BG that fixed actually means capped, and they believed them, I would say that was more 'naive' than wanting 'the penny and the bun'. If they were told that if rates fell below the rate when they signed up then their tariff would also fall, it is not unreasonable for them to expect that to happen.0 -
Obviously, as had been said before, telephone up and explain that you believe you were mis-sold to. They will then forward your complaint to the Sales Complaints department, who will listen to the recorded calls and get back to you.0

Hi there,
If you signed up for PG December 2009 it means your prices were fixed at the Pre-july 31st prices (Plus 9.8%, I forgot!). This means that you will already be saving 25.2% on your Gas compared to everybody else. I sympathise that it kinda sucks if you were told you would be eligible for price reductions if there were any, but that's why it's important to read your T&C's carefully when you receive them...
However, changing would seem like cutting off your nose to spite your face at this point as even with the price reduction you're still going to be paying 15.2% less than everybody else and you would have to pay cancellation fee's too?
Even though perhaps the deal isn't as good as you thought it was, it will still be a darn sight better than what you'll get anywhere else TBH so I would probably stick with it esp. as they're already bandying about with putting prices back *up* come the autumn.
my prices are now roughly the same as their Standard Rate, but I have lost the benefit of Dual Fuel Pricing which is why I signed up in the first place.
Apologies to all for the delay in replying, unfortunately got the 'flu !"0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0 -
Thanks to all who replied. I will obviously complain to the Sales Complaints Dept. if I can get through!! Anybody got a number for them ? Otherwise I will have to grin and bear it or bite the pill and pay the £70 penalty."0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0
