BTW my hubby HATES (as in it makes him feel sick) the smell of lamb cooking. He likes eating it, but I'm not allowed to cook it at home. If we went to view a house that smelled like so lamb had been cooked there recently he'd be unable to view. (Nowt as strange as folk!
Im one of those strange folk then lol. Lamb is my favourite meat. However, I too hate the smell of it cooking. Makes me gagg. So he is not alone0 -

Eating out is too expensive at the moment and trust me, my lamb dinner is to die for and I also get to have the leftovers for lunch at work:D
Since you have two viewings at 12 & 2, have something else for lunch - preferably cold & unsmelly, & cook the the lamb once everyone has gone, & have it for dinner.0 -
If the price is not right in this market you can have as many viewings as you want but as for offers well whistle..It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
I'm another against the idea of roast lamb smells. It's very strong and not everyone is a full blooded carnivore. The old baking bread/ coffee smells are supposed to work well. I used an oil burner and had orange oil on the go. Not that it did much good. We had about 30 viewers at the time and the people who bought seemed to have fallen for the place based on the pics on the website. Most people need a bit more than a nice smell to part with a six figure sum (you would hope!)Stercus accidit0

I definitely wouldn't be cooking. The mess, the smell, the impression that you're intruding. Your house should be as much like a show house as possible.
We had a second-viewing last week and made the house exactly as it was the first time. We had an early tea to make sure everything was just right. BTW we did get an offer but we're still negotiating a fair price.
I hope all goes well for you no matter what you decide to do.0 -
I with the no cooking crowd. The smell would turn my OH's stomach, he always puts on the extractor full belt when meat is cooking. Plus your dog would be drooling everywhere

No cooking. You never know when a veggie will buy a house...
You could always put Sunday off limits for meals or have the dinner on Saturday instead.0 -
I'm a vegetarian, and I would feel physically sick if I was viewing a house that was cooking lamb at the time of the viewing!
Stick with something neutral like baking bread or a cake.
Meat smells are very stong, and aren't to everyones taste!0
