You do not need any NTL software installed and you could just try disabling Norton by right clicking on the Norton icon in the system tray rather than un-installing it i.e. you should definitely have an anti-virus before going online!

Ok, thanks. I think she has already uninstalled it and that was what the problem was because it hadn't removed itself properly.

I'm taking a CD with all sorts of free apps and updates etc so I'll make sure I have a good AV and Firewall.

wow, I literally only had to uninstall norton live update. The internet was up and running before she'd even made a cup of tea.

I had an issue with NTL last week, we are on broadband and whilst my husbands email worked fine on the desk top I could not get it to work on the lap top...phoned NTL, got told all sorts of rubbish, still did not work. Had a chap in to fix something else, all that was required was to put in my details as controller and away it went....NTL ARE RUBBISH........I am looking at using a different provider, they are charging me £17.99 for 1mg briadband wheen they are offering it to new customers at £13.99 gggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr have tried to get them to lower mine, but no loyalty does not pay!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Living in the sunny? Midlands, where the pork pies come from:

saving for a trip to Florida and NYC Spring 2008

    Total so far £14.00!!

A threat to cancel got me a 1 year reduction, if you are seriously considering leaving (like I was, and will when the deal runs out), phone up and give your 30 days notice, I will be VERY surprised if you do not get a better deal, just say you are moving to a cheaper provider, simple as that.
