Advice setting up NTL as their technicians don't seem to be able to..

You do not need any NTL software installed and you could just try disabling Norton by right clicking on the Norton icon in the system tray rather than un-installing it i.e. you should definitely have an anti-virus before going online!:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Ok, thanks. I think she has already uninstalled it and that was what the problem was because it hadn't removed itself properly.
I'm taking a CD with all sorts of free apps and updates etc so I'll make sure I have a good AV and Firewall.0 -
wow, I literally only had to uninstall norton live update. The internet was up and running before she'd even made a cup of tea.0

I had an issue with NTL last week, we are on broadband and whilst my husbands email worked fine on the desk top I could not get it to work on the lap top...phoned NTL, got told all sorts of rubbish, still did not work. Had a chap in to fix something else, all that was required was to put in my details as controller and away it went....NTL ARE RUBBISH........I am looking at using a different provider, they are charging me £17.99 for 1mg briadband wheen they are offering it to new customers at £13.99 gggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr have tried to get them to lower mine, but no loyalty does not pay!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A threat to cancel got me a 1 year reduction, if you are seriously considering leaving (like I was, and will when the deal runs out), phone up and give your 30 days notice, I will be VERY surprised if you do not get a better deal, just say you are moving to a cheaper provider, simple as that.0
