Bought Nano, must I use Itunes?

I bought a Nano on Monday for my Audio Books. Problem is, I can't get on with Itunes! I'm sure Itunes is a first class Library but it is 'double dutch' to me. I even went into the Apple store and they tried to show me how to load on my books but it must be an age thing for me, as I'm lost.
All I want to do is load on my books that I have in the Audiobook section of the library on the top left of Itunes. I have selected the manual option but I can't seem to drag the books to my folder.
Is there another way that I can use the Nano and drop and drag? Sorry, I'm not 'up to speed' on these things.
Any advice most welcome (as I'm pulling my hair out)

Just out of interest, what format are your books in - MP3, WMA?Dave. :wave:0

Erm.. insert CD, it asks you if you want to rip it and add to Itunes... then you sync it. It's not that difficult
There are other alternatives though: http://askbobrankin.com/itunes_alternatives.html or http://www.simplehelp.net/2007/07/08/10-alternatives-to-itunes-for-managing-your-ipod/
Personally, i quite like sharepod for its simplicity (and it can be used to backup your ipod)0 -

Dave, many thanks for the prompt reply. I buy my books from Audible.co.uk. I have looked on the site but I can't see if it's MP3 or something else, sorry.0 -

Ringo, the problem is not getting the book from CD to Itunes. I download the books from Audible. I then have the problem getting the books onto my Nano. Thanks for the links.0 -
Do you have the files that you downloaded on your PC? If so.. please give an example of a full filename0

There shouldn't be a problem with the format, but if you hover your mouse pointer over an audio file, it should give you a description.
I don't really know much about Ipods as I don't have one. Does the Nano appear as connected in Itunes?Dave. :wave:0 -
Why not log into audibles and look for a solution on their help site? http://audible-uk.custhelp.com0

Is ITunes recognising that you've plugged the Nano in?
On mine it starts synching automatically - providing it knows the Nano is plugged in.Debt at Highest: £11,630.10 (May 2006) Debt now: £0.00 !!!!Married to the man of my dreams :A - Sat 2nd June 20070 -
You have your iPod/iTunes set on manual mode. Set it to automatic sync. (when nano is plugged in, left-click on the iPod symbol on the left panel, then check the box under all the info about your iPod.) Then when yiu plug in your iPod, it will autosync everything in your library.
If it still doesn't work, right click your audiobooks, and hit sync (there should be an option). I'm away from my normal PC now, i could help later

I can suggest SongBird as great open source free alternative to itunes, then you need the ipod plugin,
