I can't believe I've just heard on the Radio that Subway are going to open another 600 stores in the UK.
Either they've read my post and have got onto their PR dept pronto to squash the rumour, or they are making a big mistake in the current climate. I suppose they could even be sourcing cheaper ingredience to reduce their prices.I am a Mortgage Consultant and don't like to be told what I can and can't put in a signature so long as it's legal and truthful.0 -

I just read the same on the BBC :rotfl:
Maybe Portsmouth will get another 4 stores now :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Mcdonalds have had a huge increase in business mainly due to their breakfast meals and cheap coffee.0

Is this the chain that leaves taps on permanently in all stores? Could not give a monkeys about them closing then.0

Expensive for a sandwich? Sub of the day's <£2, isn't it...Can't think of many places on the high street where you'd get a crap packed (and chilled) sarnie for that price, let alone one made to order, as you like it, heated etc...Don't think it's even in the same league as Starbucks when it comes to ripping people off.
And as for the OP, it really couldn't happen to a more deserving company. Don't have much sympathy for the staff at all tbh - I exercise my ethics and don't go in Starbucks, if they won't do the same and actually work there, they've kinda got it coming.
The [Starbucks is more profitable than an evil empire] thing in Austin Powers really wasn't too far off the mark.0 -

McD's breakfasts rule. And their coffee is pretty decent. Three quid for a double sausage egg McMuffin with a hash brown and cup of coffee, good VFM as basically it's enough to see you through until the evening, food-wise.
On a weekend morning, especially Sunday, there's a huge queue of punters at my nearest Maccies around 10am as people try to get there before they stop doing the brekkie food. Greasy, but perfect after a night out.--
Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.0 -

Why they haven't started extending their brekkies all day is beyond me - I'd love a mcmuffin for lunch some days

I (almost) always use indie coffee shops. On purpose. Except for Paddington Station where I have a Starbucks every time I am there (always in the summer). The frozen one with vanilla. Expensive but Yum!0

With all that talking about it, I'd love one now actually.--

Mc D's coffee is pretty nice, BK is okay, Subway I find a little bitter. I was surprised to see so many new Subways opening too - you can get a sandwich, cookie and coffee for around £3.50, so better value than Starbucks, but I think they are indanger of saturating their market.
Interesting to read the planning extract - they obviously think they can do what they like. I hope they all shut now.0
