hoseaons kp lodges

hi all

im completely new to hoseasons as im more the self catering holiday in the middle of nowhere sort of person. anyhow i came across these glorious lodges near york new for 2009. can anyone tell me if theyve stayed there yet and what are they like and are the teensy ones the same style as the bigger ones.

also what are hoseason lodge holidays like in general? is it possible to get far from the madding crowd on a lodge break? any recommendations would be great. its the 2 of us and 1 teen and if nearby maybe the dog. i had been considering suffolk area for a short stay with the dog as well if i can find something good and extra cheap as we are in kent so not too far to drive.

I think Hoseasons are a booking agent rather than owning the sites so sites may differ depending on owners.

We stayed years ago at a chalet at Welcome Dawlish with Hoseasons and weren't impressed but it was economy prices (mind you I still think economy shouldn't be damp and mouldy in bedroom). However, family have stayed with them here in the westcountry and were really plaesd. We visited and the sites looked clean and the accommodation really good too. We have also personally had two Hoseasons boating holidays and they were brilliant.

We have used Hoseasons a few times in the past - stayed in a lodge at Keilder Forrest - lovely no complaits at all and I am very fussy! It was immaculate and had everything in it you could want - including food processor, washer drier. We aslo stayed ina converted stable block in Thirsk which was spotless too. They cover all price ranges in their brochure - seen the TP Lodges they look stunning - very tempted by them too!!

i saw the new lodges and now i am hooked. i am just waiting to see if anyone can tell me if they really are that nice.

was the converted stable block one of their cottages? i have been looking at them too. basically ive been looking at any self catering options including barges for about a month. as we were hoping for a couple only short break this year as we have NEVER been on holiday in 3 years , a special family break for my sons 16th and/or an escape for xmas. i had been trying to book a self catering lake district hol for 12plus for a huge party week for my sons 16th but everyone has really upset me and some people say they just cant afford it and others arent even interested. so i have all but given up on that idea. i am a bit hurt and upset as i was budgetting for a weeks luxury self catering at under £100 each and babies free so i thought it was a bargain price and we would have bought tons of party food and stuff for everyone. and i get the "we cant afford it" routine even though its 9 months away

it is now all driving me nuts as i just want something booked as as mum i have to be the organiser for the family. after all the stress of trying to find something i actually need a holiday :rotfl:

mouldy rooms etc are all the sort of things i am really worried about as i like everything clean and nice and i would probably explode  or ball my eyes out - i can be overly fussy at times so id just like to know i can go on hol and relax as i only have to dash around and clean when we leave.

Since then I always look at the description. I avoid the words 'economy option'. It never put me off of Hoseasons as they have some lovely places on offer.

Don't worry about the lack of interest towards the family do. I wouldn't want to either (although I have done in the past and they loved it but I didn't) . It's nothing to do with them and everything to do with my personality.
  • Am going to one in Suffolk soon, booked through Hoseasons. Our first time. Will feedback after if you like. By the way don't forget you can get cashback - Quidco and Topcashback.:D

I too have stayed at Welcome in Dawlish and it was the only Hoseasons site out of about 10 that I've been to that I wouldn't go back to.

I can't comment on anything in the York area but I have stayed in their lodges/cottages in Devon, Cornwall, North Wales and The Lake District and they have all been of a very good standard

i understand kez. my family all get on fine and i am the outsider so this was me trying to put up a flag and make an effort to get on with everyone becuase i can do it for my son. thats why ive got annoyed becuase they like these things and i dont and then when i want to arrange something extra special they say no.

anyhow ive learnt my lesson and i will just focus on the three of us.... my partner and i if we ever have any cash will be eloping for sure now as if they cant manage a 16th party they arent even being given the choice again!:D
