    except people weren't investing, they were saving, and in most cases it was in a UK branch of the bank in question and it was covered by the FSCS.

    No, no and no.

    Foreign banks like the Icelandic one, and it made me laugh(not) when loads of people paniced and abandoned UK banks and shifted their money to the Irish banks.

    well A&L is owned by a Spanish Bank, HSBC has its roots in Hong Kong, whereas Barclays is as much American as British

    I used to work in London and in our office we had a copy of the Bankers Almanac. I was browsing through it one day and came accross a bank called "The Bank of the Holy Spirit". Makes you wonder doesn't it?

    However, where I used to live there was a pub called "The Rising Sun"!!!!!!!!
