Less than a 12-month contract? Better deal? Please help!

Hello everyone,

I am living in a shared student house at the moment. We all feel we are being screwed over by BT.

We were paying £20 a month for line rental and free evening and weekend calls, and we were paying £80 every three months for the internet. It worked out roughly £140 per three months. I managed to switch to the basic phone deal of about £13 a month (instead of the £20) but we're still not happy with the overal cost.

We are not bothered about using our phone. Would be nice if people could phone us, but it isn't essential. We rarely use it to phone other people.

All we really want is the internet.

But we are all leaving in August at the latest, and it seems that everywhere demands a 12-month contract, so we feel like we are stuck being ripped off by BT.

So my questions are:

- Are we paying too much for internet from BT?
- Where are the best deals for just the internet?
- Is there anyway we could get a shorter contract that 12 months?

When I was a student Virgin Media offered 9 month deals for students - though as you only have 7 months left and you have a contract with BT I doubt you can do much to change it now unfortunately
