I am thinking I might as well go for the Vanquis? What are the pros and what are the cons?

Well pros - You are more than likely going to get accepted.
    Good customer service.

    Cons - High % rate.

  • Thanks Sutt. When Vanquis ring you up on the landline, what do they say what questions do they ask you?

Welcome to the board. Dont panic what they show is just an example of what it would cost if you borrowed £1500 over 12 months, this is quite a common thing they put in thier T&C's.

few!!! thankyou Kiora. I've never used a credit card as an adult. Had 2 when I was a stupid 18 year old, ran up 9 defaults. Paid them all off last year though. only 3 years till they all drop off my credit file! yay!

    Hi allthings,

I applied last Thursday/Friday online. I got a call from them today, all they wanted to do was to confirm name, address, D.O.B. The woman seemed nice enough, she then reeled off all the terms and conditions waffle, then asked me about the plan you can sign up to for 0.99p per £100, which I accepted.

Then... She said your limit is £250 and your card will be with you in 7-10 working days. She then said... " we can offer you a £250 cash advance now to be put directly into your account in 3-5 days, this fantastic offer is for a limited time only"

OH MY GOD! i found this incredibly shocking! The card offers to help people re-build their credit who have financial problems in the past - and then they go and offer to put you in that same situation again! I really couldn't believe it, 5 years ago I would be one of the people who would have taken it, knowing i couldn't afford to pay it back, then they add the 39% interest.

just thought you should be aware.
  • I just applied for the Vanquis. Unfortunately I got the following message:

"Thank you for your application for a Vanquis Visa Card. Unfortunately we are unable to give you an instant decision, but we'll be in touch within 10-14 working days."
  • :D evening
