Just updated my total with spends from today, had to walk to the shops as the roads still really bad here this morning, no more snow had fallen but everything still frozen so both my girls were off as both School's closed. Anyway, for those who buy Charmin ( I can't compromise on Toilet Roll) Lidl have 24 rolls for £6.49, carried one of those home and then walked to Asda to get flour, eggs (15 Free Range for £2 at the moment), carrots etc etc. They had loads of Meat/Joints whoopsied, I think the shop has been really quiet because yesterday there were no buses here at all, but I resisted as I'm determined now to just buy from the Butcher.;)
Dinner tonight is a huge Cottage Pie, still using up meat/mince from the Freezer before I brave the Butcher's but feeling more confident about that after reading other people's comments, here and on other Threads.:D Pudding will be Delia Smith's Lemon Surprise Pudding, made one last week but have 2 lemons needing used up and the whole family loved it so won't mind it again."WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.

Hi Folks,
Hope you are all well. I need a bit of help.
I always buy Free range chickens, and have decided I would like to buy better quality of butcher meat too, however, I dont know where I can actually get Free range Butcher meat. My local butchers dont sell this.
I live in South Lanarkshire, (just outside Glasgow). Does anyone know where abouts I can find out about Free Range butcher meat?

Hiya All
Still on track for feb (what date is it? haha) really, really looking forward to all the tips etc that i will no doubt pick up on this site, i got loads last month (my first month) and was an amazing £40 under budget, am going to have a bash at the sausage casserole and the shepherds pie that have been posted in the last couple of days, seem a bit more interesting than my boring usual attempts. Does anyone know can you freeze sausage casserole? and if so how would you reheat it?

I've got 2 portions of sausage casserole in my freezer at the moment. I plan to reheat it in a saucepan, but think I will probably have to add some extra liquid while doing so (to stop it sticking)Cheryl0

Decided to get a big Asda delivery for today, so £92.11 went for that but should only need a few bits here and there (veggies etc) for the rest of the month so fingers crossed I'll stay within budget! Wanted to do smaller weekly shops as I seem to spend less that way but since I am 6 months pregnant and without a car at the moment it's not really feasible as have to walk quite a bit to the shops.
Very cold but no snow today.LBM 31/01/2009: £19,422

Decided to include petrol, baby food and toiletries in budget this month. Am also aiming not to spend anything until the weekend. May be a little tight as I'm not sure the baby's formula will last till then.
Thinking of trying Aldi or Lidl. I moved from shopping in Sainsburys to Asda as I figured that Asda would be cheaper because there's more choice. What do you guys regularly buy at Lidl or Aldi?
