You can pick up SIMs either free or very little cost.
You really need to indicate what sort of usage (no. of mins/texts) you usually use.
If you spend a lot of time speaking to your sister it may be Orange are your best bet.
Here's a taster
The cheapest PAYG is Asda (runs over Vodafone) 8p a min/4p text
IKEA is 9p a min/6p text
Orange PAYG 15p a min xnet 10p text
30 day SIMs - a 30 day contract (remember Quidco may be available)
Virgin 200 mins/200 texts £10

Doi not forget reception, generally O2 and Vodafone are seen as best but there are black spots. You can check this online somewhere. Asda mobile are cheap and as a carrier they use either Vofafone or O2 for the calls - they are a virtual service. Vodafone are generally expensive for calls.0
