Do you know what? After 20 years working 37- 60 hours a week for the NHS, in what I would consider to be a fairly well paid job. They have just finished me on health grounds because I have been in a bad mood for the last year and didn't go to work!!
To be honest I don't know why I didn't have a bad mood earlier, as obviously I am much better off on ESA ( & possibly DLA if I get it on appeal!), than I was earning 3k a month doing a job I loved.

    What's with the sarky reply?

£3k pm + 6.5% NHS pension contribution = £54k pa. (If you were on this amount you wouldn't have been eligibe for the amount of tax credits you were in receipt of ;) )

If I remember correctly, you are a midwife.

Midwives are paid between £20k at the lowest on a band 5 and £33k at the highest on a band 6, so overall a pretty average FT salary in todays day and age.

    Quite a difference between £54k and £33k ;) (£33k isn't even £2k pm never mind £3k)

    Perhaps you meant £3k gross:doh:

mitchaa, you have been told by the Abuse Team before about your unhelpful posts on the Benefits board. Perhaps you could think about that before posting?

I would also note that midwives with management responsibility can be anything up to an 8c, so your figures are not accurate.
    Gone ... or have I?

I never claimed it was net, but actually as a top of band 7 I earned 37k a year basic, add on to this on calls and weekends I was on around 42k a year. My tax credits were high due to me paying childcare for 2 children and also because of the disability premiums for my DS.
And given you were so quick to check out my pay, perhaps you should have read up on bipolar before saying such a foolish comment.

You are talking midwifery consultant level then and not a ward/community midwife. I knew fine well what HMT2 was as we had discussed it before. Trawling through old posts about AGC she was not on top level 6 (£37k) as she was due a whopping back payment not that long ago due to being banded incorrectly. I also know her on call payments were derisory as she claims here...

Post 80..63p an hour on call and 93p at weekend. That is not worth much, perhaps £1k pa or so. Information only 1 year old. I have an auntie in midwifery/health care assistant so I know exactly what they are paid and how often they are called out.

I like how yet again you pounce on me even though it was HMT2 that had her knickers in a twist about a post I made a year ago. I asked a perfectly reasonable question and she jumped all over it.

Just remember when you post you leave a trail and if the 2 dont match up then, well you know the rest. Do not dig any deeper please. You categorically stated you earned £3k pm (£54kpa) in your sarky post to me but it is clear you earned nowhere near this amount when you track back through your old posts;)

Dont dig any deeper, you'll only make it worse. And DMG, get off your high horse sweetie, you are a forum poster just like myself. I have insulted no one here.

Mitchaa you are correct in that I was a band 6 a year ago, however if you trawl back through that thread you would have come across this

"Agenda for change was agreed in October 2004, I and all other community midwives in my area were G grades prior to this, when rebanded all hospital G grades were given a band 7, all community G grades were given a band 6.
Our appeal was only heard in January of this year, the job assimilation panel rebanded us to a band 7, yet the trust are refusing to pay us and it has been taken to the chief exec twice so far in an attempt to overturn the decision.
There are about 30 community midwives involved each of us owed between 2k and 10k in back pay (depending on where on the G grade scale we were when agenda for change came in).
I am owed about 5-6k plus a 3k increase for this year to put me on the scale I should be on. So yes are a lot of people waiting for backpay and their appeals to be heard."

In June of 2009, we were all awarded our back pay and assimilated onto the band 7 payscale, due to the fact I had worked in the community since 2002, I was placed on the top of band 7.

Midwives in different areas are on call for a different amount of time. I was doing on average 2 on calls per week, and 2 weekends per month Yet just 3 miles down the road, working for the same trust but providing a different model of midwifery care, they do 3-4 nights on call per week.

So with weekend enhancements, bank holidays, and the on call payments I received around 5k per year on top of my basic salary (saturday earned us time and a 1/3, sundays & bank holidays time and 2/3). I have no reason to lie as I am not even working anymore!

Also 3k a month for 12 months is 36k not 54k, so I was correct in what I said, but actually I was on a bit more than 3k a month, was around 3400 gross and around 2500 net after deductions.

    Good for you.

I just didnt feel the need for your sarky response to a genuine question. Stacey Slater has helped the bi polar cause in the last few months in respects to general awareness.

Apologies then for the sarky response, however you are an intelligent person and am sure even you knew that bipolar is nothing like having a bad mood. Long before Stacey Slater, there was Virginia Woolf, Vivien Leigh, Frances Farmer, Axl Rose, Kurt Cobain, Jean-Claude Van Damme,Sting, Stephen Fry and the most publicised Kerry Katona to name but a few.

The only way I can describe it is life wrecking and family wrecking. I am fortunate that I have such a fantastic sister, if I hadn't had her I have no doubt that I would have been hospitalised. It will be one year tomorrow since I last worked, I have gone from an intelligent, confident person with what I considered a good career. To someone that half the time can't remember what day it is, and is terrified of her own shadow and until recently used to cry when I woke up in the morning because it meant I was still alive, lost my job will probably lose my home in the not too distant future. I think the worst thing for me is I remember the "old" me, the one I lived with 40 years, the "new" me is a year old and I loathe her.

    :rotfl:

How could you possibly know that??
Serously I love it when people say things like this
My brothers girlfriends sisters uncle used to work for a man who's wife was a vet
That means I know everything there is to know about treating animals
    Future Mrs Gerard Butler :D

    [STRIKE]
    Team Wagner
    [/STRIKE] I meant Team Matt......obviously

    We have a comedian I see:T

Erm for 1, the pay profiles for the NHS are on a public website for all to see. It actually tells you what bands certain professions are in and their exact payscales. For 2, funnily enough I know my Auntie very well, I know her husband and I know all my cousins. I know for sure she is on call for 1 week every 4 and being on call myself (1 in every 3) I have chatted to her on numerous occasions about frequencies of out of hour calls.

Doesn't take the brains of Albert to work out her approximate salary now does it:doh:

    God, give me strength.

HMT2...I wish you all the best. 'Stacey Slater' in eastenders heightened my awareness.
