What would be the poinnt of showing a judge how you are living before BR, what will that tell him about how you are going forward? A judge can refuse BR if he feels you would still not be able to cope afterwards.

A judge will look at your debts, income and assets and will be able to tell immediatley if you are insolvent, he doesn't need to know how you are strugging being insolvent.

  • You just don't get it!!!

If I was to pay all the debts that I had, then we would both need to be working fulltime and more, put my kids into fulltime day care, and we would still not have any money for food, bills, rent etc.

So this means I pay NOTHING to my creditors, not a bean!!! So I can live, but I go BR - Get it - Good!!
  • and if we were to pay our creditors we would have to live on a credit card... it just would never end.
People on this board have been through so much, it is not an easy choice to go BR and most people avoid it for years before it happens.
People can be in this position for lots of reasons, putting their life into a business then it fails,
partners leaving, leaving the other with less income. Loosing a job and then unable to pay, or like myself having the house re-possessed due to Northern rock refusing to renew a mortgage deal, left unable to pay the full amount, then them selling it for £116k less than we owed.... expecting us to pay the shortfall..
I have had many a sleepness night, tears worry even thoughts of ending it all to get out, BR has saved alot more than my marriage its saved my life.

No need to be rude about it. The benefits actually make up a half decent wage. I dont get why you are being so defensive.

    Not if you're insolvent.
Some people live from day to day on credit, robbing Peter to pay Paul, and never miss a payment until the day they go BR.

Other try, as you are, to scrimp and save, and work themselves into the ground to try to pay their debts back. The day eventually comes when they realise that their health, family and sanity is more important. Still they have a right to go BR, regardless of the fact that they have managed to scrape by previously.

  • I can't decide Combo81 if your a Troll or just stupid but since you obviously are not intending to go bankrupt may I humbly suggest that you return to the dfw forum where they will explain how too dry out old t-bags and make a mini chicken last for 12 meals for a family of 8. This is obviously not the right forum for you. Of course if you ever find yourself in the same position as all of us we will welcome you with open arms and offer you lots of advice and hugs

Thats charming. Im not stupid, maybe I dont have the information how BR works, doesnt mean to say dont want to find the ins and outs about it just incase without the troll police getting the hump.

I noticed when Ive been lurking here, your not very nice to people deal with if your not intending to go bankrupt, can I suggest you all stay out of the other threads then? No, I thought not.

  • Perhaps it might have been a more sensible idea for you to look at a few more threads on this forum before putting your twopennysworth in on a subject you know nothing about! Otherwise you might cause offence to people who are trying to deal with debt in the way that is best for them!! We don't mind questions it's when the question appear to infer that we are taking the easyway out that causes offence. We are all trying to deal with br's in a way that helps us to continue with our lives, without having the burden of debt around our necks.

We all want our lives back! We don't need to be preached to by people who enjoy scrimping and saving, we have all done that - many of us for years and years. But we have all decided enough is enough!

So really what your saying is scrimping and saving and re using teabags, making chickens feed 10 screaming kids is beneath you? Fair enough. Im not quite at that stage yet, but we do go without, the kids and us.
