I was trying to tell my mom about the Boots offers recently. Had took her some TD handcream, body lotion and one of those EA Orange EDT £2 reduced bottles.

She was chuffed but wasn't really interested (Noel Edmonds was on the telly!) and then it slowly dawned on her that the stuff was free or virtually free and her head shot up like a meercat!

Think quite a few others on here have probably had similar reactions from friends and family!

When I was in Boots last week, I spoke to one "senior" ;) make-up lady about something and was shocked by how much slap she'd got on. She looked like she was about to go on stage in the theatre! Worst possible advert for a make-up counter, I thought.

    Dave,

That sounds like the woman on the makeup counters is department stores like House of Frasers, Jollys etc.

They scare me witless and I feel like a damp rag next to them. But at least I know I don't need to get a pan scourer from the kitchen to get the muck off. But they make me feel rather little and rather plain. But at least I am not Tango woman :rotfl:

But my husband loves me for me. And that is the most important thing.

  • I've messed up on so many of these offers lately. Two weeks ago I printed the EI coupon and used it on ONE handwash - I didn't even know it was BOGOF. Then last week I printed the Trevor Sorbie MG 100pts and didn't use it. Today the machine had nothing (of interest) to print.

However, the Sunday staff are younger, happier and much more helpful so I managed to get £14 worth of mens stuff for £10 and also a skincare voucher and choccie voucher. The TD items have been put back out so grabbed a free TD handcream with the voucher.

I'm still learning though...it's quite complicated, especially when there are crossover deals like this.

At my hairdresser last nov. I had a make-up session by a professional... I can't even remember how many products she put, layers on layers, it look very nice and made my eyes look fantastic, but my son said: Mum when are you going to remove that mask!!1 charming :rotfl:  :rotfl:

After a serious illness last year, I was invited to a 'Look good, feel good' make-up session. We were all given a box of make up and taught how to cleanse and tone, and then apply the make up. I felt like one of those painted masks you hang on the wall. Big bonus was being given all the make up...Clarins, Chanel, Dior,Mac etc ....to take home! Got almost 200 quids worth. :D

    Further help needed!

My mum's in her early 60s, fairly decent caucasian skin, dark brown hair and brown eyes. She needs some new lipstick and I've already dropped massive hints that she'll be getting a bumper goodies hamper for Mother's Day.

I've no embarrassment in going and buying women's products but haven't a clue what'd be a decent lippie for my mom, giving her age and colouring. (Did get her the free No 7 bag, but that seems really geared towards a younger woman.) My mom's got mobility problems, so it's fairly difficult for her to get to the shops on her own, so I'd rather buy her something than just say "here's a fiver!".

    Any suggestions much appreciated. :)

In case you end up choosing for yourself, rather than taking a photo :)
Colour analysis looks at warm/cool, deep/light and muted/clear characteristics. I'm absolutely not an expert, but dark hair and eyes probably puts her slightly into the warmer/deeper categories - which translates as don't go for very girly pink :) As we age though, our colouring softens (though her dark hair will give her contrast) and it is better not to choose a very deep or bright lipcolour as she'll disappear behind it.

I would guess that a warm pinky-brown shade would probably look great. I've just bought Jemma Kidd shade 06 Audrey lipstick which is a very nice one, and although a small amount, is packaged with a lip softening primer in the other end (£10.50, 300 extra points in magazine, wait till after 15/2 for another 300 point voucher from adv card machine). Another good universal suggestion is No.7's Plum Beautiful (I think their lipsticks are c.£8?) which at one time was (maybe still is) the best-selling item in the range (because it suits many people?) - a nice mature deep soft pink.

If you feel like splurging, the lipsticks from Elizabeth Arden are very very nice to wear (and probably marketed for mature skin, given the brand costs), I don't know if they do one called Beach Pebble still, one of the most flattering colours I've ever had :) The reason I mention ElA is because until 15/2 you get a nice gift bag of skincare with any two purchases (not sure if this would work with reduced items, but I've seen quite a few reduced bits in several stores).

Well I printed out the EI voucher the other day and did not use it. I was kicking myself. But someone on this board mentioned that they could print another one out.

I tried it and it worked today. So spend £6.95 in boots got 900 points back and only paid £1.95 in cash as I had £5 boots voucher. Only have a modest £23 on my card at the moment. So they paid me to take it all away.

I love it when they scan vouchers and you see the total reduce.

The EI will be used as birthday and mother day pressies.

I did manage to get these though. It's the Bodyform new generation packs in secure fit. Usual price about £1.45 but all packs 99p and most with the pink £1 voucher on the top. HTH Jackie
