  • Had a Dyson DC-01 for years but got fed up with the look of it, gave it to my mum and bought a Vax Bubble, which was crap. Bought a reconditioned Dyson DC-07 from eBay for £60 (inc. delivery) and have been chuffed to bits with my purchase. Recently changed the filters and improved the suction no end. Works like a dream for a fraction of the price of a new machine.
  • Had a Dyson for 5 years. Got fed up, went through 3 different ones and now back to Dyson. Now swear by Dyson. In mu opinion nothing sucks better!

I need to buy a new vacuum cleaner. How much do I need to spend to get an effective and durable one? I like the look of the Dysons however they seem expensive.

    Thanks

  • If it is durability you are after then you can't go wrong with a Henry Hoover.
They just last forever. Used to use one for upto 6-7hrs a day non stop and never packed in.

Luckily I don't have that much cleaning to do - phew! It's just for my home however some of the very cheap vacuums do not seem that durable.
  • I have a bosch & its fantastic, great suction, automatic cord re-wind. A lot better than the dyson
  • My second Dyson has just conked out after 2 yrs, and after reading reviews have placed an order for a Henry Xtra at https://www.cleanstore.co.uk he's only £99 plus £5 p&p
  • I have a Sebo and it cost me £180. Its been good for the last 6 months and lot of people swear by it.
The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

I fiddled about with a Dyson for the first time today in Tesco and have to say it looked and felt like a right heap of lighweight poorly put together plastic junk. Lots of bendy, light plastic that felt like it might snap at any time. And as for the colours...urgghhh.

No wonder i've seen so many reports of the things needing repairing.
