Dyson every time get a older model and they run for ever and easy as peanuts to fix if they go wrong parts are cheap to, dc01 or DC04, also there bagless and the filters can be washed so more money saving to be had, a good reconditioned dc01 should only cost £50 ish last time i looked.
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

At home we had a Dyson and at our shop we had we used a Henry every day.
The Dyson stopped working so we had to bring the Henry home to hoover at weekends.

We closed the shop down about 13 years ago and the Henry has been used every 3 days or so since and is still going strong.

Henry gets my vote every time.

I have a Dyson and a Vorwerk and I loathe the Dyson. The Vorwerk has bags but I spent more on the Dyson filter (until I found them at 80% off in Sainsburys) and the Vorverk is light and easy to manouvre and has great suckability.

I bought it 16 years ago after a recomendation in Good Housekeeping and have never regretted it. It has had to go back for one repair but the Dyson has had two new hoses and a new dust container and it is only about 5 years old.

The Vorwerk is expensive but, if you can afford it, worth every penny.

I bought the Miele s571, after my second dyson packed up after only 2 years(my 1st one lasted 6 years). I found the dyson loses suction really quickly and I was washing the filter on a weekly basis in the end, also the hose split within the 1st 3 months of use. My Miele is really good, much better than the dyson.

I've got a cheap as chips 16 year old Hitachi and an expensive Miele.

The Hitachi is bagless and has worked perfectly from day one. The Miele is good but has needed a new part and lots of bags.

Therefore, i'd go for a cheapo one next time. They do the job nicely and you can get 3 or 4 of them for the price of a Dyson or Miele.

By the way, Bissell are supposed to be very good.
  • I swear by my Miele. I have the cat and dog model that's especially good for pet hair. But I've hammered it through 8 years of building work and it hasn't complained yet! I think it's worth paying a bit extra for quality sometimes - the cheap stuff breaks after a year and so you don't save any money after all.

Well my cheapo Hitachi is still going strong after 16 years and it's used for all the nasty tough vaccing jobs, like after DIY and in the car.

The Miele we have is very good, i'm just not convinced it's worth 4 or 5 times more then our Hitachi type of vac. I've also probably paid a lot more in bags for the Miele then the actual purchase price of the Hitachi.
