Buy a bulk load of Turkey sized tinfoil (the 1m long stuff) and wrap the entire office walls in the foil. That will stop any wireless devices from sending a signal out or (or into) the room. It will also cover any hidden cameras ;) Also the russling of all that tinfoil will mask any conversation picked up from embeded wired microphones! :D

Or try this from Maplin for £18 in total ;)

Buy one of these delightful water fountains http://www.officeplayground.com/wfountbamboopl.html?productid=wfountbamboopl&channelid=NEXTA

The noise makes bugging very difficult.

the easiest ways to put a small portable recorder in your coat pocket and leave the coat on the rack.

While the cat's away, the mice play. He should put a video camera in there - for security purposes.

Probably paranoia, but I swear that my boss has bugged our office. Does anyone know what I should look for?

I know people joke but this is something that happens a lot more than people realise.

I used to work for a blue chip company and they used to get boardroom and meeting rooms swept once a month and I know a couple of times the sweeps turned things up.

Whether they were planted by competitors or employees looking to work out which projects had the most funding we dont know, and for that matter may have been planted by the sweeping company to justify there huge bill.

If you seriously want to sweep your office there are several decent products online which will do the job. I presume its a sound bug your looking for rather than a camera.

Work out your bosses budget ie a £10 listening device is a lot easier to detect than a £1000 one and spend your budget accordingly or hire someone in to sweep the office.

A bug costs anything from a tenner and paying someone £50 to slip it into an office plant an hour before a big meeting can earn serious dividends if rumours of a buyout or takeover are confirmed.

    It does happen.

I cannot really say too much on here just in case. He is a real technical geek and it could be that I have logged into MSE whilst at work and he now knows my ID on here!

Some very interesting replies. So thanks very much.

You have to inform people they are being recorded or filmed. "This call may be recorded for training purposes" ring any bells?

It's only illegal if you are caught:D

Water and music does help a bit, but can often be filtered out. usually if the music has to be closer to the microphone that the people you want to record. If the music is close to the people, they will have to shout over it and that will be louder than the music.
