    Hi there,

you got a bit lucky there D4n13l, i've recieved a similar letter for the same offence but have been asked to pay £500, no warnings at all.

This post helps me in a way as i was unsure if the legal company was legitimate, but seeing as others are getting same things it kinda answers my questions.

there are some streaming sites which ask for login information and there is a risk to that as you will give more clues as to who you are , If you go down that route its dodgey even if your watching lost on casttv before out out on sky . there was a thread on the techie board on this subject , by the way who sent the letter what firm.

I've not had (nor do I expect) a letter. But I certainly wouldn't be paying anything without proof that I had committed an offense. It is already common knowledge that some torrent sites 'inject' random IP numbers into the stream...maybe that happened to you? Certainly hard to prove otherwise I would have thought.
Could I also ask which ISP this is...

    hi DatabaseError,
my isp is Sky, the letter identifies my isp as easynet ltd. Then there is a 5 page letter explaining the law and how they obtained my ip address and house address. Then two sheets with spreadsheet extracts identifying time of download/upload, the ip address and name of the file. Also there is a payment sheet.

On an unsecured wireless network it could be anybody downloading from your IP ..
I can't see how this could be proved unless the hard drive is checked ..Sounds like someone looking for a mug who will give them cash for nothing .

I have recently received a letter rgarding illegal downloading.

This has worried me slightly, as I am now concerned as to what I can and can not do online.

Does downloading information include the ability to stream videos from websites such as youtube and alluc?

I am not sure if such websites count because their is no way to pay for the information you watch.

    Help would be much appreciated.

    Thank You
    Daniel

I wouldnt worry. If you can honestly say you have not used peer to peer or used torrents to download copyrighted files (music films etc) then you are innocent

Take a leaf out of my book and join BT broadband. My connection is so slow and spotty that even watching youtube is near impossible. Put temptation out of reach.
