Bad credit is linked to a person, not an address. HOWEVER, you may get letters for the previous people - send them back with "no longer at this address" written on them. If someone turns up at the door, have something to prove your name handy. AND, most importantly, ring up your local council immediately to get your names on the electoral roll.
If the floor is just old wooden flooring you can either sand it and have rugs or just get carpets and underlay fitted over it.
And take a note of all the meter readings in the house.0 -
Thanks again for all the good advice. We thought the flooring was laminate but is wooden flooring, so may need to get someone out - perhaps the doors may need planing. The flooring looks nice (house is only 2 and a half years old), however we feel that its gonna be too cold and we both like a carpet. In terms of gas I think this may be the best option for us even if it costs some money. Lots of phone calls tomorrow me thinks!
Cheers

Oh its only a new house! I think its likely laminate then. If you have carpets fitted, the fitter will plane the doors.0

They'll only plane the doors if you specify the doors may need planing. Some of them dont' consider doors part of their job without advance warning ... If you got someone out they'd measure up properly and have a look at the floor for you...
Someone said £70 for a gas service - but ring round and see what local prices are like.0 -
I guess our fitter was a aristo of the carpet fitting world, he did come from John Lewis0

Congratulations on getting the house, Simon. Well done.0

Well the decorating has started and I have another question!!! I will hopefully post photos at some point! There was a massive hole in the same wall as the fireplace (bottom left of the wall) - The guy before had a LCD/Plasma tv on the wall and had run the plugs down the wall and out of this hole. I have filled the hole with foam, packing and plaster and it looks impressive, however I have only just begun to think that this may have been a ventilation hole?!?!? Is this possible - any ideas?
Thanks again,

Without seeing it, its hard simon. Why dont you take this opportunity to knock on some neighbours doors, intro yourself and ask them about it0

A newbie question - is there a clause (or can one put a clause) saying that this buy is contingent only when my loan is sanctioned?Recession - if you are forced to drink beer at your home.
Depression - if you have no beer to drink at all!
I don't see any of the above - so where is it (recession)?0 -
are ventilation holes normally at the top of walls?0
