Sorry guys I have another question! After raking through the forums I have found information on phone numbers to call in order to reconnect services such as gas, electric and water - however can I set all this up before we have the keys? I'm thinking not but....!
Thanks again for your time and patience

If the meters are still there then it's really quick.
But get a gas man in when you switch the gas back on to service the boiler.0 -

You need the meter numbers - MPRN (Gas Meter Point Reference for gas)
You can look them up online - google will help.

Got the keys, and I have to say it was a surreal experience for both of us! The house was extremely cold as you can imagine with all the snow. On the off chance I chanced the stop tap for the water and hey we have water, then the electric after flicking a few switches! All we require now is some heat which requires gas. I found a pack in the house which had a number for "London Gas" which turned out to be EDF Energy after I called them this evening. They say that there has been no disconnection and therefore should be a matter of turning on the master connection - hopefully when its light tomorrow I can do this after work!
Questions so far then - as this site is now my bible! -
I have heard there is a chance that you become blacklisted as your home is linked to a credit rating (due to it being a repossession), is there a number you can call to unblacklist?
Anyone know how difficult it is to put carpet on top of wood flooring / rip out wood flooring for carpet?
Help appreciated as always -
Thanks,

Oo ace.
Depends what sort of wooden floor it is. Laminate? Take it up and see what's underneath.
Floorboards - leave and get carpet put back on top
Other - describe - or ask a carpet shop man to come and give you a quote and ask him

how long has the house been empty for? any problems turning water and electrics back on so far?
are you getting a gas engineer to check over the boiler and turn on?0 -
Get a gas man in to service the boiler and get the system up and running. It's worth it.0
