I have an issue ongoing since 2001. I'd appreciate if someone can give me advice on how to resolve this.
Brief summary (add liberal amounts of Ikea incompetence, hours of being on the CS phone line to get the full picture)
New house bought, no existing kitchen/cooker/etc.
Kitchen order July 2001.
Kitchen delivery 1 wk later, phone call to say truck crashed on M25
Next delivery 2wks later, all the broken contents of crashed truck.
Next year spent attempting to get Ikea CS to redeliver all broken stuff. Stuff arrives in dribs & drabs, some of it again broken. After 6 months, on insistence of Ikea CS manager start to install the bits I do have. At least can now use integrated appliances, and cook
Dining room at least now only half fulll of flatpack.
1 year on, kitchen doors are still missing, range is now discontinued, so no more doors in entire world. Ikea CS personally takes delivery to his office of 3 doors from dictribution center in NL, all arrive broken.
Ikea let us choose new range of doors.
1 month later get told there is a delay.
10 months delay due to manufacturing fault.
Finally doors arrive, but some broken by delivery company.
Replacements arrive over next 2 months.
1 month later, doors start cracking due to manufacturing problem.
Over the next years doors get replaced about 4 times...
The last door arrives Jan 2005.
Compensation is promised.
1 year on, many phone calls, faxes, promises of returning phone calls etc. still awaiting compensation.
Have faxed Ikea many times. Just faxed head office again today (prev sent registered mail letter).
Nothing happens. Whenever I speak to a CS manager promises to resolve issue and calle me back are made.
I must be the most patient Ikea customer in the world.
Can anyone advice me on how to get them to sort out my compensation?
Cheers,
Dutchie

Take them to court for the money?"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
yet another disatisfied ikea customer. when will we learn that ikea are a disgrace. their customer service ia appauling. i now refuse to buy from ikea since they refused to accept a returned item ( long story). anyway, iin my opinion take your business elsewhere and take them to court.0

Give the following link a gander, should come in useful.

Thanks for the grumbeltext link.
Going to try once more next week to get Ikea to resolve this, and otherwise guess I'll go for the small claims court route.

Threaten them with Watchdog, court, the local press & Richard Hammond (Yum!),
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -
Yep,
Write to them and copy the letter to trading standards, your local MP, and whoever else you want! Its surprising how fast they jump when they see who else you have sent the letters to! Oh and send any documents recorded delivery!Weight Loss - 102lb0 -
Wrote recorded delivery to HQ adv them they have 14 working days to provide you with whatever figure of compensation, I'd ask for about 30% the value of your kitchen by cheque.
Tell them you have already taken legal advice and will be taking them to court should the cheque fail to arrive.
Attach as an appendix full details of all the contacts and deliveries etc so they don't detract from your clear message.

Just thought I'd provide an update to my Ikea saga.
I perservered with complaining to Ikea for another 2 months
My threats to go to the small claims court did help, so thanks for that advice.
Finally got somoeone in their office in Peterborough to sort out compensation. First offered about 25% of my kitchen price, but turned it down as they had alreday offered me more before, duh! Then the offered 50%, then 75%, and finally they agreed on a full refund as I had requested from the start
Glad the saga finally came to an end.0 -
Thats good to hear, it was the least they could do really. That was a fiasco and I couldn't be that patient, so you deserve a medal. A less there I guess ikea CS is terrible. I've never bought anything big from them and probably won't now.

Gosh. Sounds like you have really stuck to your guns - think I would have gone mad by now had I been in your position!
Glad to hear that it is sorted - have you got the refund or have they said that you will get it soon?Weight Loss - 102lb0
