  • This is a very interesting thread. I have noticed the same reordering of transactions resutling in a breach of my overdraft. I wasn't charged though.

What I'm currently grappling with at the moment is the accuracy of my available balance. I have no transactions pending and yet when I deduct my balance (overdrawn) from my overdraft limit, I should have about £400 left until pay day, which is fine, yet my account says £285 (not fine).

Anyone else encountering this? Can they fix it? I daren't ignore it and spend more than they say is available. It seems to happen most months but I can't actually tell you what happens when you get down to the wire as I chicken out and transfer extra funds in just in case!!

I'm worried about this too, although mine is only out by £1 (so fine). But it worries me that either theres an A&L bug, or someone is using my debit card fraudulently.
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.

It clearly shouldn't be like this, so I would phone them up and ask if there are any debit card authorisations on the account. Even though they haven't actually been taken from the account yet, they should be able to tell if any have been put on, and for what amounts.

This is because when you pay for something using a debit card, the money is not taken straight away, but reserved, and then taken a few days later. This reduces your available balance but not the account balance.
