At work we have received a few video CV's recently, where the candidate sit down and talk about the CV on video..
  • Mmmmmmm...no. Not very now and from all the CV's I see at a guess about 3% include them. Bit cheesy and in my exp mainly those applying from abroad do it. The photos always look naff!
Why did I not have the LBM years ago?
LBM Dec 2008 -Debt total then £18,802.24.
    August 2010 - Student Loan £5526.
Loan £5642 -£3000 saved towards final payment:)
    Balance Outstanding £8168.

Sorry fold but it has been stated a few times in the paper the prettier people generally are more trusted, have a greater worth put on their words, and get better job breaks and deemed as more honest. It was said to have upto a 50% greater effect on ones work progression. A bit like having Tom Cruse make a medical statement without knowing nothing medically, and it took 2 senior (apparently world renown) consultant so set the media and the rest of us straight.

Trust me I, am good for your businessicon10.gif

You shouldnt have to put a photo on a cv, i never hav done and i never will,
  • No, you shouldn't have to, and from what we can gather, very few people actually do...but it doesn't mean you can't.

No, No, No! Not a good idea, unless you are an actor! Especially not if you're e-mailing it as it will fill up someone's inbox and be too big a file. It's also more expensive to print it as you'll have to do it in high quality colour (or buy lots of photos) and as this is money-saving that sounds like a no-no :)

little to gain and a lot of credibility to lose....not a chance I'd do that!

"hey, interview me cos I look like this!"...yeah right....
For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 2007

If I received a CV with a photo on it I would presume the candidate was a bit full of themselves and dare I say it, over confident. It would put me off.

Also, like it or not, you would get some employers (probably those on a smaller level) who would be swayed by looks.
  • unless its for a tv / film role, or page3??, i wouldnt do a photo people may judge you on that alone, and not your skills and experience etc..

but speaking as a man, a low cut top will certainly get my attention- but the cv will have to measure up as well!

I too see quite a lot of CV's, those from european, especially Spanish applicants tend to have a photo on them. Though many turn out to look not much like their photo anyway!
