I was told today that I can get Sky+ for a one off payment of £80 and no further subscription but cannot find any other info. Has anyone heard of this offer ?

Have heard you can get it for £80 but as far as I know you have to pay an extra £10 per month for having the priviledge of having the SKY+ services0

Sky+ is free if you subscribe to 2 or more premium channels like Sports + Movies otherwise its £10 per month to use Sky+
We used to have the family pack at £20 and we got Sky+ and instead of paying £10 for Sky+ we upped the package to get Sky Sports 1,3,Extra and Movies 2,4,6,8,10 at a cost of £10 extra per month0 -
Personally I think Sky is a total waste of time. Endless repeats and nothing but !!!!!! after 10pm.
