T-Mobile Contract Lock?
Hi everyone, this is my first post so I'm really hoping someone can help me.
I have been with t-mobile for around 4 years now, my current contract (18months) started last January (08) so I still have a few months left. I am on the flext 35 + web n walk, which i managed to get included so it costs £35ish...
my partner has just got herself a tmobile contract, which is sim only, £20 a month, can cancel at any time with only 1 month notice, and has unlimited txts and offpeak minutes (it says unlim but i reckon there's a cap at around 1000)... This is perfect for me, so I called up to change tarriff, but t-mobile just said i cant change until my contract is up.
I thought this can't be right, i always used to change as i needed to, but they came back with "a new policy has just came in which says you can't change until you finish your term". This 'policy' wasn't in affect when I signed, so I'm pretty sure they can't change my contract, while im in the middle of it...can they?
I know to change down your tariff with t-mobile, you need to have paid the original amount for 11 months, but you can change up at anytime (it figures, they make more)... It has been over 12 months now since my signing so surely I should be able to change?
Even if i change to a lower flext, like flext 20 i'd be happy, but they're having none of it... What I'm really hoping for is a quote from some legal doc that says they cant change the contract while im in it so I have something to fight back with...?
Any help is much appreciated...
Chris

The solo is a 30day running tarriff, no contract tie in's, because you are still in your 18month agreement you can't change onto this one until the last month of your contract.
The policy they are referring to is the no downward migration and it used to be 11 months, now it's last month of the contract. It was never part of T-mobiles Ts & C's so this doesn't affect what you agreed to. As far as the contract goes, you accepted to pay £35 a month, for 18 months, it would be the companies discretion if they let you change down.

The contract you singed was for 18 months, in the past the network, at their discretion, would allow you to drop a level at some point (half way), but both sides have to agree to any change in a contract. The network is now saying it won't agree until the last month of your contract . . .0

As Jess said, they've not changed the contract.I accept no liability if you chose to rely on my advice.0
