I wouldnt mind buying to sell on ebay as I have the time to put into listings etc but I can never find a bargain to sell :( Where ever the people get the monsoon goodies from are making a mint and it cant just be from the sales as two people have around 200 auctions per week! If only i knew their secrets :(
Have a look on the quick grabbit while you can forum. A camera that was reduced and selling from argos for £99 can still be seen on ebay fetching upto £185 plus p&p

  • Hi there,

Just wanted to add my tuppenceworth! I make stuff to sell on eBay and I buy the materials very cheaply - so you could have a think about this if you have any artistic talents?

I advertise samples (to keep the cost down) and invite people to contact me for quotes for multiple item purchases - then list these on eBay. I currently make about £50-£100 a week doing something I enjoy. I find listing on eBay a bit of a pain and keeping up-to-date with all my quotes etc, but I love making the items and I can do it in front of the tv.

You have to be organised, but it seems to be working so far!

As everyone else has said, pick your time to sell - for misc. household items, items ending Friday and Sunday nights are good for me. For some items, time of year is important too. I make wedding favours, so this is coming up to my busy time and througout the summer - but it gets quieter in the winter.

Good luck - keep us up-to-date with how you get on!

    Bank of Scotland = £2,782.83

just to say, Ive been having a clear out on ebay recently, and ive a few tips.

Yes go to your local bargain/pound shops and get jiffy bags and reuse, but if you are sending small clothes ( hat/little tops etc) a manilla envelope will do just as well ( preferably pinched from wowk lol)

Ive been having brilliant success with "buy it now" instead of listing things as auctions.
Ive been selling old textbooks mainly, but also some clothes ive never worn/ never fitted etc. I sold a hat id never work ( bought for £3 in the sale) sold for 4.50 buy it now. i think the buy it now angle works for the impulsive buyers out there, of which there are many. Im only having to relist 5% each time, as most stuff just sells. I guess what is the minimum youl'll accept for the item/ whats the going rate (Ie playstation 1 games at 1.50 a go, you wont get much more than that unless they are rare as)

This also works well for the "check out my other items" bit, if your items are cheap, people will buy them, if only to try and rsell them themselves! Doesnt matter to me!

Always offer second class postage as standard, but if the buyer wants first class, then offer it i the text. Esp if you are selling books and all that, makes it cheaper for the buyer & more likely to sell . theres a world of difference between 1st & 2nd class postage price, but not in the time it takes to deliver!

I made £200 in the last 2 weeks from this, not bad considering its all trash to me!
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
