Sorry, but your question isn't really clear to me.
Any voucher will usually have a date of issue stamped or written on it and will say something along the lines of 'valid for XXX months / days/ years ' or, voucher expires xx/xx/xx or alternatively valid until xx/xx/xx '
If it is simply marked valid to the value of £ xxxx and has no date of issue or expiry as the old BR type were, then it would appear to be valid for exchange for goods or services to the value of the specified amount indefinitely.0 -
Is what you are asking:
can a rail travel voucher that is about to expire be used now to pay for a future trip after its expiry date?
if that's it I am fairly confident that the answer is yes.0 -
dzug1 is correct, the voucher must be used to purchase tickets before the expiry date of the voucher. The date of travel on those tickets is not relevant.
I work in a travel agency booking UK rail tickets and regularly accept the vouchers.ilovefreegle.org - give it away don't throw it away0 -
The RTV or 'greenie' is vaild for 12 months from date of issue. As long as you exchange the RTV for tickets before the expiry date that is fine regardless of the date on the tickets you are buying.
Most TOC customer services will reissue expired RTV's if you send them in with a covering letter. But phone them first.
On another matter eBay will NOT allow you to sell them.Ex-Employee of a Train Operating Company.

Thought I'd let people know how I got on with my vouchers...
Mine were due to expire while I was away on holiday. I'd tried to use them before but wasn't able to get the journey I wanted (multi-train journey with bicycle, etc.. another story).
Anyway, I phoned Cross Country (who'd issued them) and asked if they could be extended until I got back form holiday. The helpful lady said it might be possible to have them extended by a couple of weeks and to put it in writing.
Well I did, and they extended them by another year! :beer:0 -

Ebay is well know for removing auctions involving Railway tickets/Vouchers but Gumtree is not to fussyWhoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -
Is the principle the same for a railcard? I got the free 2 month one with the Daily Mail which expires in two months, but I want to book travel for October - can I do it now?
Many thanks

My RTV issued by East Coast expired and I contacted them 5 days after and they regretably advised they would not extend. So therefore a main TOC do not allow extension as advised by another person. East Coast is government supported and thats us the tax payer0
