just filled mine up, quickly learnt that I put way to much tea leaves in, nearly took my head off, was so strong! Id say if your using it for tea stick to 5ish scoops if your filling it right up.

Had to go and pick mine up from the depot 15 miles away yesterday , because the courier was apparently not allowed to leave it with a neighbour as requested.
Anyway, got it home, cleaned it through and go some coffee on the go. All's well. I then returned to it for a second cup, and the AUTO ON/OFF switch and LCD were all off, yet it was still brewing coffee. No lights or display will come on this morning either, I'm just so gutted

Got mine today from EmpireDirect (would have been yesterday if I'd been in) and courier intrigued about its popularity as had another on the van to deliver to next road.
Slight disappointment to find it has a 'tub basket' rather than 'cone' (permanent) filter design as personally I prefer to use the Cone-4 filter papers in them so that can just lift/bin cleanly rather than endeavour to shake out in bin and have to washout into sink too.
From the brochure it's the "CMx6x" models that have the cone filter (ie CM561 rather than CM551) - though the alternative bit is on sale at the Kenwood.com spares site - £4.35 for holder +P&P so might 'upgrade' it yet. Have to see how I get on with it first...
Judging from an Argos style 4xx/xxxx sticket on the box top I wonder if Argos used to sell this Black model as well as the ongoing Silver model and just remaindered them all to EmpireDirect - or else maybe Argos backed out and left Kenwood with a consignment they had to sell off to EmpireDirect/Amazon...
Updated: a few days usage and delighted with the coffee quality and ease of use - just pushing one's mug into the button to get a hot (half-)mug of coffee has become a habit!
AND it's still listed on the empiredirect website at £15.99+P&P.
As anticipated, I am disappointed with the permanent filter hassle and definitely thinking of trying the cone basket alternative. Has anyone beaten me to this idea?
ie Holder

with it seems a higher lid (not enough room otherwise?)
http://4ourhouse.co.uk/cgi-bin/product.pl?PID=960005&item=104030§ion=8633
and would I also need the Permanent Filter Basket
http://4ourhouse.co.uk/cgi-bin/product.pl?PID=959993§ion=8633
to hold a paper 4 cone, or can I just get away with the holder ?
Seems to making the maker almost twice the price, but no-one seems to be selling the 561 in UK anyway.

Does anyone know of anywhere still selling these at a good price??
