Does anybody know if you claim for a new gas oven on your home insurance and you have to pay the excess do they fit the new oven for you or do you have to pay extra on top for this?

I would of thought they would of given you vouchers for a new one and thats that tbh.
A lot of insurance companies hand out DSGi Insurance Replacement gift cards which can be used on whatever DSGi sell (i.e. PC World / Curries etc) and so you could use that to pay for delivery and a home install but it would be expensive...Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -
The purpose of insurance is to put you back in the position you were before the loss. Therefore if the oven was fitted, they should pay to have it fitted.0

The reason I need to claim is because of accidental damage to the oven. I closed the top oven while holding some cutlery and the glass shattered. My home insurance includes accidental damage so I thought I should be able to claim.0

Be careful though that it doesn't work out dearer in the long run to claim rather thna pay it yourself. You'll have to pay the excess of course and then in future years there is a distinct possibility depending on your insurer, that your premiums will go up.
Also worth factoring in whether you get your insurance through a cash back site as once you are non standard, ie have to declare a claim, it proves difficult to do it online and once you have to phone to clarify the situation you lose your quidco (or whoever) cashback.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I have already received £30 cashback through quidco and it's been paid into my bank. Does this mean I will need to pay them back if I claim. A new oven is about £500 plus so I think I need to go through my insurance (£150 excess).0

Sorry, no it is me being confusing as usual
What I meant is that when you come round to renewing next year a lot of people start afresh through quidco again to get another lot of cashback, and change insurers. The moment you have to say yes to any question about previous claims or such like you end up having to phone to explain the exact circumstances, which means it isn't considered an online purchase so you get no further cashback.
I even had one cheeky insurance company want to charge me more as doing it by phone meant I wasn't entitled to their 10% online discount even though 99% of it had been done online and I only had to phone to give claim details.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Oh I see what you mean. I think I will check out ebay for any bargains - if not I think I will have to go through my insurance I didn't realise ovens were so expensive.0

Be careful, you may be able to get a replacement glass top in which case that is all that they will pay out for.
My mums glass top broke on hers and she was able to get a replacement glass top.0 -

Unless the oven is not working in some other way as well which would not be covered by insurance - am I a cynic or what?0 -
It's not a glass top that is broken. It's the glass in the top oven door. It is not replacable like the bottom oven door glass. Basically it needs a whole new top oven door. Do you think I would be able to get one of these I have looked on various websites and have had no luck finding replacement doors. Just replacement glass panels for the bottom door and things like that.0
