The best cat litter - help

Hi

I have two 6 month old house kittens. I'm a first time cat owner and new to the whole cat litter thing :) after visiting all the pet shops etc there is a huge range of litters available.

Ive tried the wood one, which was really messy with sawdust, and at the moment am using Catsan which is good but is a bit more expensive and leaves little bits all over my hall which is annoying

After checking the net there are loads more......

Which one do you cat owners think is the best in terms of quality and value for money?

Any help, id be very grateful

I use Catsan cos it keeps the smell down and I am PG so the antibac in it is a plus.

  • We use one fom a local pet store that's 20kg and costs around £8 and its very similar in texture to catsan. A bit of bicarb soda in the bottom of the tray helps wth the smell. And we clean ours out so often there's little time for the smell to be noticable. The mess is something cat owners have to put up with unfortunately!

Whenever our cats have had to be kept in and use a litter tray I always used Tesco Value litter.

I've just got a kitten again, after not having a litter tray for a few years.

When I had a litter tray before I used the white bath crystal type (expensive, but you did ask for the best).

Now we've got a tray again, I saw some litter than had a bag thing under it & you opened it out on the tray & then just picked the lot up to bin it.

    RUBBISH

Went back to the crystals, they are the ONLY type that don't smell.

Few different brands, but all work the same & they ALL look like white bath crystals.

Bob Martins do one & Pets at Home, do one in what looks like a washing powder box.

Another catsan user here... Used citicat for a while and it worked well with one cat but not with 3... And the mess is just a fact of life with cats, they flick it around the place...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Another vote for Tesco value cat litter here, £1.16 for a 10litre bag, lasts me approx a week and thats for 2 cats sharing 2 litter trays

I use the Bob Martin Litter crystals for our 2 house cats and they're brilliant, no smells at all and you just have to lift out the poo. Each bag last a month per cat and i think it actually works out cheaper overall because you're not constantly changing it.

Its called tracking and as everyone has said its a fact of life if use litter trays, I used the Tesco one as well, I believe there are some anti-tracking litters out there, but they are expensive.
Woofles you need to get out of that house. You are going insane:eek: - colinw
