Very slow laptop (only256M RAM).

I've just spoken to telephone sales and they told me that the memory fits. However, the scan program and my inspection of the machine show that the existing 256M cannot be removed. This is as reported in the link in the earlier post.
I reckon that it is not possible to upgrade the memory in this model.
Telephone technical support said the spare slot can be used. I'm going to try it and see.Happy chappy0 -

let it scan the lappy and it will tell you what memory will fit the laptop, no hassle you get the right memory for the slots. I bought an extra 1gig for my Toshiba just after christmas and it cost £9.19 with free delivery. They are a reputable firm.

thanks all, this post hays inspired me. my laptol (dell Inspiron6000) is running really slow on 756mb ram, so i will heed some of the advice detailed in this post.

756 is plenty for a properly configured XP, avast is one of the lightest AV's available.
