Thanks for the advice guys, what I actually meant was a mini greenhouse.....
Our garden isn't really big enough for a full greenhouse, is it worth me getting a mini greenhouse?
Any recommendations where is cheap to get one from?
Was thinking of this one maybe..... http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/7201981/Trail/searchtext>GREENHOUSE.htm
Is it worth the outlay compared to the payback?
I bought one this time last year and put it this way while i was assembling it 2 of the conectors snapped, argos wouldn't send me anymore either so they are taped together. The thing blew over and i lost all my tom seedlings, even though it was pegged down. The zip broke too so now it doen't do up either.
It's still in use for how much longer i don't know but i'm going to use my drawer plans and see how that goes. I would prob go for the smaller if i bought one again.
However it does keep the rain off!0 -
I bought a smaller one of these from Woolworths last year. The plastic tore quite easily (and quite soon after buying) in the zip area and had to mend it with gaffer tape. In the recent winds it blew right over despite being held down with bricks and took out the bird feeder as well:eek: . It's torn in a few more places recently but have managed to plaster it up again. I will use it again this season but don't think it will last another. I did only pay £14.99 for it. It's a pity they don't make the plastic stronger and/or make replacement covers.lindseykim13 wrote: »I bought one this time last year and put it this way while i was assembling it 2 of the conectors snapped, argos wouldn't send me anymore either so they are taped together. PS Some of the reviews on the Argos website don't look too good either.0 -
If tomatoes grow a bit leggy, I plant them deeper.
Saw this tip somewhere and they are OK (of course if you are planting them in growbags you are stuck!)
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Wildgarlic wrote: »Can you recommend a good site to learn more about the hydroponic/aeroponic growing? I want to grow lots of chillies and toms this year. I don't have a greenhouse (yet) but do have a large window sill that I can use to start things off. We live in the north east of Scotland and so have a short growing season anyway but want to make the best of it this year.
Here you go.....

You could also use old windows propped up on bricks or knock together some bits of wood to make the frame and cover with old window or perspex (not that cheap to buy new though) - obviously take care if you've got children so that they don't end up crashing through the glass and injuring themselves.
At this point - and now seeing subsequent posts - it's sensible to remind people about Freecycle for offering/obtaining all the bits ms gardeners can use.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

I went into Wilkinsons a couple of days ago and they sell replacement covers for the plastic greenhouses.

ive just sown a few peppers and tomatoes today. a couple of different varieties of each so i can see what does best with an early start and what does better if you leave it a month or so. fingers crossed they'll all do well. im excited! What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0

I bought the mini greehouses with plastic covers last year from instore for £9.99, shifted all the shelves up one (there is room) and using garden wire made sure they were firmly attached to the sides of my £50 second hand 8ft by 12ft greenhouse, and they make perfect greenhouse staging for very little money. In summer they all came apart easily for storage and they are light to move......I filled the whole lot with home grown seedlings and sold any excess plants at work.....I even sold on the plastic covers to someone who needed replacements!!
