Apologies if this has been mentioned before, but buying a star, acre of the moon, etc is a an old and long running scam.

Romantic it may be, but save your money and make the certificate yourself0 -
This site is a fantastic idea. I first joined when it was launched back in November last year & put my name up as well as both of my children. I since added a message for my 2 yr old nephew when he was ill.
Not only helping young cancer patients you can announce your love to your partner & the rest of the world.
Also ideal for birthdays, pick me ups, anniversary, exam congrats & so on.
Any problems just require an email sent to Nicky & he'll sort it out for you.
A first rate site & highly recommended.fuzzyrazer wrote:Welcome to you.....good post & find.....
Had a look and seems a good idea & donates to a charity too, also is cheap......some details here from site...
Who is behind this service?
This is the brainchild of a 13 year old boy from Wales. He has designed sites for a while and whilst working on a piece of homework came up with the idea. Being home educated he needed extra money to fund advanced courses.
His first venture, santas-grotto.org contained the original tree concept. Initially his goal was a Christmas email service but the tree of names became the big attraction and this site was born! The more he developed this idea the more convinced he was of the potential to really make a difference. The team consist of the founder, his brother and a small group of support staff.
The Cost
The cost is £1 per block. There is nothing to stop you clubbing together within your family or friends to buy your block or several blocks together! We hope in this way it will allow everybody to participate no matter where you are.
The order with be processed using the GBP. However, you can order from any Country/currency – if you wish to check your exchange rates please click here.
Noah’s Ark Appeal
10% of all income to this site will go towards funding The Teenage Cancer Unit in the New Children’s Hospital in Cardiff, Wales. This is part of The Noah’s Ark Appeal (charity reg number 1069485).
I Don’t Have An Image
No problem – We have created an image library for people who don't have their own images or would just like something different.
Is this unique?
Yes, it started off with a tree and people adding their names. Nick would add names to the site on a daily basis using old technology. He was then given a script based on a pixel selling scheme inspired by entrepreneur Alex Tew. The result is a unique website which will no doubt be copied by many.
Help! I’m stuck on the order process.
You are not alone and we are happy to help. Just send all your details to tree@treeofnames.com and we will add your blocks for you. Please send your name and message (up to 50 characters), the amount of blocks required and a suggested colour or scheme for your “block”. Once complete we will send you a paypal payment request. This service is free but is for a minimum order quantity of 2 blocks.
What happens when the site is full?
We start a second tree although the original tree will remain on the site for a minimum period of twelve months. Hopefully, if all goes well it will become a permanent feature of the internet experience! There potentially is no limit to the amount of trees as the word spreads – we will be happy to have a forest!
Is this religious or political?
No, there are no boundaries or affiliation with any particular faith, political persuasion or other organisation. The intention is simply to provide a place that is inclusive for all. We would describe it as an “ethical” site; any queries we are happy to respond to.
Links
Links are available to personal sites and commercial ventures so long as it meets the terms and conditions. However, when clients do not have their own web links this facility is disabled.

12 RED ROSES FOR JUST 81 PENCE - YES REALLY!!!
Today i went to my local "Wooly's" and headed for the pick 'n' mix, whereupon I found the "Roses chocolates" section and proceeded to pick out 12 of the red ones. I then took them to the counter and duly paid my 81p. Hopefully my good lady will take my gift of love in good humour and with the saving I have made we can go out for dinner. Happy Valentines Day one and all.0 -
I apologise this may be a little late for 2006 Valentines.
A great site (iwoot) but not very reliable (myself and several collegues the guinea pigs). All received different items to what we ordered, and what was stated on the manifests.
You can do returns, however, apart from the time delay, it costs as the contact is an 0870#.
Bottom line - not very reliable.Smiley_Mum wrote:The Treat (it's a best seller so you better be quick).

Help wanted:
Last year sometime, someone posted a cute idea about buying a small packet of jelly and a card and writing in it: 'You turn me to...' or something like that, only better.
I know this as smart/silly me read it 6 months ago, and wrote it in my diary 6 months ahead (ie a week before val's day) to 'buy jelly and a card for valentine's day, and if I don't remember what to write, check the MSE forum'.
Of course I've forgotten what it is the person suggested to write and have been scouring the valentines and other forums looking for the post.
Does anyone remember this one? Or perhaps the poster out there could refresh my/other's memories?!!0 -
If I gave my husband some of the mushy things listed on here, I think he'd run a mile. So would I, come to that!
I'll never understand why anybody over the age of 7 would actually want any of those yucky cutesy teddy bears...let alone a grown man. And don't get me started on those terrible Love Songs type CDs and the 'rom-com' DVDs.
Someone tell me what on earth you do with a silver Rolo or Loveheart? Does it end up collecting dust somewhere?
Valentines Day has been made so forced and artificial now. It's almost like " OK here's your quota of love and romance for the year all in one day....now let's get back to being normal".0
