Walk wear

Me and the OH are going to Keswick in February and we really need some decent coats to take with us.

Anyone got any ideas as to where we can get cheap, but good quality coats?

Thanks in advance

  • Blacks are usually quite a good bet, especially if they have a sale on. I got a coat there last year sometime, granted it wasn't cheap but it was half price compared to what other people were charging, and it's a fantastic coat!

If you're close to a retail outlet, there's usually outdoor stores there, such as TOG24, OutdoorScene or Trespass.

Or if you're confident about sizing, you could look on eBay.
I'd not buy a waterproof/windproof style jacket secondhand as it has to be washed properly to retain those properties but I've seen new stuff on there.
  • Have you tried Decathlon, reasonably priced

    Try this place:

http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/ - Cheapest in the UK.

In regards to a coat look for a Gore Tex shell, Berghaus is a good bet. Under your coat wear a fleece and under that wear a T shirt.

The coat keeps the wind and rain out, the fleece keeps the heat in and a Tshirt carries the perspiration from the body which is then expelled through the Gore Tex shell.

In other words you stay dry and warm on the inside.
