"I DO NOT want this item"

Sold a high (to me) value item this morning. Very happy. Then received this email from the american buyer:
 Do I even bother communicating with this person?
I hate it when people do not even sign their name or say hello. So rude. Straight forward NPB. Third American NPB in a month. And I've only sold 15 items! Grr. There is a reason why I'm taking time out.
I DO NOT want this item. Please do not ship as I ordered in
error. I did not even complete the final payment page. I am
sorry for any inconvenience. Pls acknowledge receipt of this
cancellation. Again, am sorry for the mistake.

i gave up selling interenationally - far too much hassle. i recently had a guy get all stroppy because he had a verified paypal account in america, wanted to buy the £500 item off me and have me ship it to the mainland UK.
Got all stroppy because i pointed out that that would be pretty high risk for me...0 -
Personally I would email the buyer back and say that as they had confirmed purchase of the item with ebay you will need to reclaim your fees to ensure that you are only partly out of pocket due to his change of mind.
Then on day 7 just start the NPB process and reclaim your fees 8 days after that.
I used to be Mr Nice Guy, but now it is straight to the NPB process as soon as they muck me about. With any luck he won't respond to the process and you'll be able to leave him a juicy neg without fear of retaliation as well.

I just shouted at her!
Well, almost. Emailed her:I have received your message. However please note that when you bid on an item, you enter into a contract. Ebay charge fees for their services and listing this item and having you commit to buy it carries charges, which I can eventually re-coup off Ebay. Please be aware of this to avoid any future mistakes.
I didn't mention that she will get a strike on her account, but I bet she'll be in touch as soon as I file an NPB and she gets a reminder to pay.
The other guy who didn't want to pay agreed to pay my fees so I don't have to bother Ebay, but seven days into the NPB process he is yet to do so.
I just wanted to make some money!! I'll just get back to listing clothes for 99p, which never sell. Hey, it's nearly Ebay Invoice time, that should be interesting!:wall:0 -
Why not do the neighborly thing and do a mutual agreed not to see and that way you get all your fees back from EBay.
You the seller is happy and the buyer (who made a mistake) does not get punished with a NPB on his account.

I never do those mutual agreement NPB alerts. Just go for a straightforward NPB alert but dont wait for it to end before you relist the item. Just relist it now.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Your a hard bunch of people.
Remind me never to buy off you lot and to make sure "Whats your eBay usernames again"

Just go straight to the eBay Non Paying Bidder procedure on 7 days and let the buyer have a strike on their account. It is simply not worth the hassle trying to chase it up yourself.
You are correct in saying that hey have entered into a binding conract and are required to pay. If they don't pay they have broken the contract and you can open the NPB.
This isn't a new scam starting is it?0 -
Don't go down the mutual route! I felt sorry for someone who said they had accidently bid (I know, I know!) and they told ebay they'd complete the process. Obviously they didn't and I lost out in about £15 worth of fees because of it!

Sounds like buyer's remorse to me! Americans just assume that anything for sale on eBay is in America! I've heard some buyers say "where is the UK? And what is a £?!"
You can block overseas bidders here:

as well as those with unpaid item strikes and negative f/b (very useful)Blessed are the geeks, for they shall inherit the Internet.0
