Look at that, you're nearly at another £500 marker again
I break my payments down into £50s and £100s as it makes the debt seem smaller and more manageable.
I like to round up if i can so it seems i am getting there faster. But i know what you mean about the 50's and 100's. Its a mental trick and it works.
Back in January i could not see how it was possible to even get close to this type of total by now. I owe the HMRC a lot of money but the thought i have managed to cut right back and pay off this much so far is keeping me motivated to get to the end as quickly as i can. I am so desperate NOT to have to do this again (i.e. clear off 1000's in arrears, penalties and interest).
If i am doing it in the future i want to do it in order to stay ahead and not to play catch up.2013 TARGET £30k

Yep, i'm with you there. I often feel like i'm wasting money paying it to debt. If i didn't have debt and a determination to pay it off, i could be enjoying my money. That day will come and as you say i'll be so aware of keeping ahead instead of just keeping my head above water. Boy am i going to enjoy that!!One step at a time0 -
