in Water bills
hello.
i had a water bill for £181 and it said on the back that if you are on benefits you can arrange to have it deducted at source. i telephone the water company to tell them that was what i was going to do. i telephone my benefit people and got it set up.
then i got a court order and sent back the bit saying i was defending the claim. and i phoned the water company to see what was happening. i was confused because i was having £6 deducted off my benefit.. the water company told me there was nothing the y could do and i had to go to court. i tried to find out what went wrong, and found from the benefit people they had been paying the £6 to the council instead of the water which is silly coz i dont owe the council any money.
so i phoned the water company up and said i want to pay my bill and there has been a big mistake and that i can send them the papers from the benefits to say they made the mistake and the water people told me tough i have to pay it all with the fees or i will get the CCJ.
i know the water people have acted right but so have i and feel it is a bit unfair that i have to pay court fees or get a CCJ when i did everything i should. i have no other debts and no other CCJs and am very worried about getting one.
Can anyone please advice me what i should do with the court now?
