I didn't get replies so phone again they tell me to write again, so I write again but send recorded so I have proof! ....and I get a reply, them telling me I owe them £36.58 plus subsription charges for not keeping to the contract! They say that they "investigated my records and there is no record to say I contacted them" So basically its my fault I am so cross they are calling me a liar and I feel like crying cos I don't know what to do! My phone is with onetel so don't know how to get itemised bills, I found the emails I had sent them! but sent them with the last letter. What to do next? please help

I too have had the most awful problems with Wanadoo.
We rely on internet contact with friends and family abroad. Our 18
year old is at university in the USA.
My home broadband connection failed in December so I rang Wanadoo
and was promised reconnection by Christmas Eve. By January we were
still disconnected. Wanadoo blamed BT. I made over 40 national rate
phone calls before Customer Services in India admitted it was
Wanadoo's problem all along and that they had done nothing to
correct it. I cancelled my subscription.
However the problems continued when I tried to sign up to a new ISP.
Wanadoo refused to give me a MAC code to transfer to another
provider and for over a month now they have blocked my BT line so no
other broadband supplier can use it.
Wanadoo also sent me a Hotmail message from Customer Services asking me why I was cancelling. I completed the online form and sent it back via the
hotlink on the form. Surprise, surprise - it bounced back with "No
such address"!
Wanadoo have dsiplayed corporate incompetence, malice and mendacity,
and I would advise anybody to avoid them like the plague. I have made a formal complaint to Ofcom.0 -
stubbsy, if you want to get Wanadoo off your line so you can order another ADSL service then if you can change the BT line over to your other half's name it will clear any existing ADSL service or ADSL markers on the line. I've used this trick with a few colleagues as they had trouble with Wanadoo releasing their line months after they had left!!!
Note, this route will normally mean you can place an order with another ISP after approx 3-5 days. And also, this will mean you are ordering ADSL as a new activation so will need to pay the activation fee. This may be something you choose to do, depending on how long you think you could be waiting for Wanadoo to give you a MAC (if ever!).
P.S. I just saw your numerous other posts about Wanadoo - the reason Wanadoo wouldn't (or couldn't) give you a MAC is because you may have been on their LLU service. It depends if you were given 8Mbps as a result of being included in the BTw MaxDSL trials, or because Wanadoo had moved you over to their LLU product since they installed equipment in your local exchange. If its LLU, then they couldn't have given you a MAC as their is not currently a migration route out of LLU - although its currently being tested.
And if you are on Wanadoo's LLU network, then the trick of changing the BT line name over may not work - I've not had anyone do it on an LLU line.0 -
Great! why are they like this?!? don't they get enough money!
is there another way to get a mac code?
And how much d'ya think they will try and charge me?

I complained to OFCOM, but a havn't even had an acknowledgement from them. Could it be they are snowed under?0

Strange, I've been with Wanadoo for about 8 years and never had any trouble with them or had to use the "help" line.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Stubssy, if you read through all the threads regarding Wanadoo which you seemed to paste pretty much the same text into many times the other day, you'd have seen someone's comment regarding their contact with OfCom - OfCom do not deal with the complaint.Stubbsy5050 wrote:I complained to OFCOM, but a havn't even had an acknowledgement from them. Please see my post from last week which contained all the advice needed for escalating complaints regarding Wanadoo.
Angelcake - no, only the ISP can request/issue a MAC. Either try out my advice of changing BT account name to your other half's and/or try the complaints process listed in the post I've linked to.
Good luck, and hope you get the resolution you want!!!0 -

I am the same, been with them for years and not had any problems,
Saying that, I am planning on changing to the madasafish offer soon as it is a good bit cheaper than wandadoo just now. Hope they are ok.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Just looked at the medasafish deal, 20gb max a month, and if you go over this you have to pay £2 a gig extra, and price reverts to £25.99 after 6 months, with a 12 month contract.
As I usually download more than 20gb a month I'd be forever paying for extra, so no good to heavy downloaders.0 -

Too right! I looked at all other relevant threads and replied to them all. I think it is relevant for all interested parties to know how disgracefully I was treated by Wanadoo.0
