gnasher, you're right Dabs customer care is the pits.

I never buy from them anymore, I love Amazon though and they're customer care (in my opinion) is second to none. I think Jeff Bezos the founder ranks that as the most important department of the company.

Ive bought one of these Samsung 2GB players.

I needed a bigger flash stick than the one I got (64MB) and I wanted a small MP3 player that I could use in the car. (Ive an AUX adapter for my Ford Fiesta)

Ordered using Amazon yesterday, and it has been dispatched today. Will give you some feedback on it when I get it ! :)

  • Mine arrived this week and I am chuffed to bits. A lovely piece of kit. A word of warning though, it will not play music that you payed real money for from I-tunes without a bit of fiddeling around. I-tunes want to lock you into buying I-Pod and it wont support any other MP3 player.. I-tunes has fantastic free software but with some lock in implicaions for those of us who are not too technicaly minded. Fortunatly OH has sussed a way to convert files out and back in - far to technical for me!! so we have beaten the system... Horay!! but won't be spending any more money on I-tunes site.
  • Hi Guys,

My girlfriend bought me one of these from Amazon for my birthday - and so far so good - a great little piece of kit.

I've put tracks on it from Windows Media Player (license protected WMA DRM tracks, which I bought from MSN Music Downloads before) using the synchronise with device option. I've also ripped stuff from CD via Media Player standard WMA too.

The sound quality on this unit is also excellent.

Next thing on the agenda is that I'm going to try and rip to Ogg format, and upload - apparently the compression and sound quality of Ogg format files is brilliant.

    Cheers,

    Rob

Hope no-one (spelling) minds me updating this post. I've just noticed that this Samsung 2GB Flash MP3 player has now been reduced to £66.98 including delivery. It was £79.99 when I first posted it. Great price I think.
Ye'!, And!!?. How am I supposed to know?

Regarding charging this player through the mains instead of your PC's USB port. Microdirect look like they do such a device (link below). It's £3.88 (£6.81 including delivery). There's no picture & the description is non-existent so a speculative purchase is probably not worth it at that price. Might be worth contacting them for more details though.
